It's not giving my sim the option to read the level 3 knitting skill book. She's at level 8 of the knitting skill. When I click on the bookshelf to search the book, it's shaded(I can't click on it at all.) I tried to open the bookshelf and put the book in her inventory and the only option it gives is to put the book away or place in world. I put it on the table and it gives the option to put away or put in inventory.
My apologies for getting back so late, I discovered that it greys out for lv 7 and 8 with all sims. It starts working again at lv 9.
Yeah, I got distracted doing other things and stopped with the knitting. Ill go back to it and see shortly
I tested this with a level 8 and a level 10 Sim. The level 10 one works fine, the level 8 one has the issue you describe. Def sounds like a bug.
Can you check if it starts working if you level up to 9 or 10 ?
After testing things, I discovered that this is in fact the issue(the skill level too high). I got another SIM in the household to level 8 and the book is now grey for them as well. It's strange that the skill book greys out like that though because none of the rest do. Lol
It's only that one sim that can't read it. The other sims in the household can read it. (They get the negative moodlet) I'll try the build mode option. I bought a new book to see if that one book was the issue but that didn't solve anything. My sims on a mission at the moment, when I take her back home, I'll try putting the book in the household inventory to see if that works. Thank you both for your response :)
You should be able to read it even if not at the right level (you would just get negative moodlets). Is there any tooltip when hovering over it which would say why it’s greyed out? I’m wondering if somehow it’s not owned by the household… though even then it still shouldn’t be blocking you from reading it.
I would try dragging it out into the world, going to build mode and placing it in household inventory, closing build & going back to live mode, then reopening build mode and placing it in world again to see if that changed anything (trying to essentially reset it without cheats).
Do you have more than one sim in the household? If so, can you check and see if it’s greyed out for all of them?
It may be that she is at a too high level to use the level 3 knitting skill book. With other skills, you can only use the level 3 skill book until skill level 9, then you have to use other ways to max the skill. Perhaps with knitting, the level 3 book just goes to level 8? Have you had any issues with using the level 3 book when she was level 7, or with the previous level 1 and 2 books when at lower knitting skill levels?
