Lost Sim After Splitting from Household Bug

Hello all!

I recently ran into an issue while trying to split a sim from my household. When I opened the “Split from Household” window, I encountered the bug where you can’t close or proceed from the window. I checked Reddit for advice and found that I could use Alt + F4 to force-close the game and save my progress, so I did that.

However, when I reloaded my game, the sim I had split from the household was completely gone, along with the money I had transferred to them. I’ve checked all the managed worlds, but I can’t find them anywhere.

Is there any way to recover my sim without going back to my last save? My previous save is from a few hours earlier, so I’d prefer to avoid that if possible. I’m also hesitant to recreate the sim or start a new game since this is a legacy challenge, and I’m about 30 generations in.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

    @09182475"I’ve checked all the managed worlds" sounds like you're going around looking at lots to see if they've moved in somewhere - but you never got as far as moving them in, only moving them out. Forgive me if I misunderstood, but did you check in Manage Households? My guess would be they're currently homeless.

    Yes sorry for the confusion! I meant to say I checked manage households, and I cant find them in an unplayed household or in any of the other households.

    @09182475 Well shoot, that would have been the easy fix. What if you temporarily recover the save, save that Sim to your library from there, then go back to your main save where they’re missing and place them from the library? You’d lose relationships, but at least you wouldn’t have to completely recreate them nor scrap the rest of the game progress.
