Mermaid animations suddenly stop working

So I've been playing my Sims 4 game for almost a year and just yesterday I noticed that my sims assigned as mermaids wont change into their tails when they get into the water. Their hydration bar under needs is also missing. I am still able to use a couple mermaid powers that require hydration points, but once I use them, the hydration wont go back up. I've tried resetting my game and repairing it. I also don't use mods anymore and they are all deleted from my computer. How should I go about fixing this?
