@whostoleb4tt3ryIf your plants need water, the option to water them should appear. It also could depend on what season you are in and what lengths you have your seasons set for. (You can change season lengths or check what lengths your seasons are in the options menu under seasons) Plants will stay dormant or dead looking outside of season. In spring they will gradually get green and look alive. It can sometimes take some time though for them to look more green. Hope this helps! 🙂
I’ve been seeing that sometimes too. As long as you don’t have the option to water plants when you click on the dull guys then they don’t need water. Weed, fertilize, or spray for bugs, if you have the option. Assuming you’ve been diligent in your plant care, then I can confirm it’s not just your imagination (probably...😉).
I’m relying on memory, so accuracy of the following is questionable, but @whostoleb4tt3ry , I’m curious whether you’ve noticed these observations (or others?):
- It seems to come and go. (Not seasonally, but day-2-day-ish.)
- It may only impact outdoor plants. I don’t think I remember noticing the few indoor plants being affected. (and yes, before someone asks, these are plants that are in season. 😝)
I’m pretty sure it’s a bug (tho there’s some chance something random in the environment is causing this - not sure what that would be....but, I rarely feel 100% sure with the Sims! LOL). It does seem like a relatively recent change. Tagging @crinrict in case this is a new bug, though may already be included in the (extensive and well organized) list of bugs. Since I know the plants are OK, I’ve kind of just stopped ‘seeing’ it – to my eyes it only detracts from aesthetics a bit. (I can fill out a bug survey, contribute saves, etc if more info needed..lmk)
Edit: Adding a link to compiled list of bugs, since it’s super useful (but not discouraging questions). Cheers!

@whostoleb4tt3ry Are these harvestable plants or game plants (decorative)? You'll only have the care options (water, etc.) for harvestable plants, including harvestable flowers. If these are purchased or debug game plants (decorative) some will change with seasons (get dull, they may have the leaves fall off, etc., depending on the plant. If you're not in summer now you may be seeing changes like this in your decorative plants. Even your harvestable plants should change with seasons. Some of these will be in season (producing fruit/veggies/herbs) and look pretty scraggly sometimes when it's fall and winter. It varies by plant.
But... If a harvestable plant looks dull, it's a good idea to click it to check if it has bugs, needs water, etc.
Thanks for the help! I agree with them looking greener in spring. But when it's spring they are not in season. So right now I have fall plants (Because it's fall right now in my game {still the sims 4}) but they look dull and dead. I had my sim, Brooklyn reasearch them, nothing. Watering them whenever the option became clickable and even fertilized! Hope someone knows. But maybe it's only okay for it to be out of season when it's in spring? Don't know, please help!
Thanks!
Agreed! I don't think it's a bug because someone would of emaied EA by now, (I'm guessing and hoping) and it's probably fixable. Indor plants are probably not gettqing affected because your sim doesn't realy plant them. (Correct me if i'm wrong) maybe all of our sims just really suclk at gardening! lol!
That's all!
- @SheriGR Thanks for the info! I just relized that....

Hey @ilovemykittycats,
This thread is coming up to its third birthday now, so I'm going to lock it to prevent necroposting. If you need help with your plants, feel free to make a new thread, but by the sounds of your last post everything seems to be explained. 🙂
