my sim is musical

How do they write songs and play for tips?

    In addition to above, they will earn tips at any level (higher skill = better tips) if you play music in public (the lounge in Willow Creek is a good place to start). Bonus tip: add the lot trait for increased skill gain!

Your sim has to achieve X level of skill on an instrument or singing. Once they reach X level, they will have the option to write music. 

I believe its level 8 to write songs on the guitar, piano, violin and create your own mix on the dj booth
