New Sleepwear Locked Behind EA Play

So the new sleepwear that leaked mind you is now locked behind ea play. Which is discusting in my opinion. I have payed roughly 1000 pound on this game and to have some "free" content locked behind ea play is not right at all. This is the only EA play product that I like and to pay 5 pound a month for what? Some recoloured clothing. EA have made many bad decisions. But this has to be up there with one of the worst decisions they have made. As a PC player and able to have acess for mods I can easily use the sims studio and override this decision but our console players arent so lucky. Considering they have been screwed over already with the build mode changes. I know this wasnt made by the sims team but some executive working for ea. A few minutes on twitter shows just how strong public opionion is on this considering how much backlash you are reciving. I hope you guys can reverse this , thank you

Some feedback from a long-time player (20+ years) and a current subscriber:

My family have been subscribed to EA Play on XBox for many years, although now it’s through the XBox GamePass merge. I think it’s great that the games I’m interested in may start to get the reward items my family gets for other EA games. However, I think those items shouldn’t be things the entire community (console and PC alike) have been asking for for years like this set, not do I think it should be items with exclusive gameplay or items that include cultural representation.

I also think there should’ve been more clarity and communication about this release seeing as we hadn’t had an SDX drop for this month and rumours were wild, setting up some big expectations that may be creating a bigger reaction.

If The Sims is going to continue to be one of the game that will now get regular promotional items for members, I would suggest better communication and more careful consideration of what you include in the future. I would suggest fun decor items, recolours of meshes, better sales opportunities for buying packs or perhaps some bundling options.

I hope this feedback is passed on. I’ve tried to be very fair and thoughtful about this issue.

To anyone (on Xbox) struggling to get this kit. I finally found the option to claim it in the Game Pass Perks. It is not claimable via The Sims 4 Microsoft Store page or within the Sims 4 game itself.

    • Log in on your Xbox
    • Navigate to the Game Pass app
    • Select the Perks tab
    • You should see 'The Sims 4 Sleepover Sleepwear Set'. Select and it and go through the steps to claim the perk
    • If you do not, please make sure your Game Pass Ultimate subscription is active and EA Play is recognising your subscription. I had an issue where EA Play didn't register that I was subscribed recently

Hope this helps! Please be aware that we only have until March 28th to claim this perk and April 7th to redeem the code.

I see that media outlets have started reporting this now so maybe there will be a rethink. Digital Spy are reporting it this morning.

I think that rather than add new content that is only available to some players, instead maybe they could look at more contributions from outside creators and making that a more regular programme. Maybe a featured creator with just one item a month in SDX. We have had a few things here and there but not for a while and not in a regular rollout. Those of us solely playing on Console only get to see some of these amazing creations when a PC player posts an image here. Some of it is so different to what we have. I don't think it should be behind a paywall but just a monthly/quarterly bonus drop available to everyone with just one featured item/set/scheme. Maybe it could be something from one of our very own PC community, that would be so awesome to see.

  • This is extremely inconvenient. I have EA play through my Xbox game pass ultimate subscription. I play ea games on my Xbox. But I like to play the sims specifically on my MacBook. Ea play isn’t on macOS. So this sleepwear set is only for ea play. But I have a Mac so I can’t have it even though i have ea play? That’s crazy and absurd.

  • i’m on console and i have EA play and it’s locked i can’t access it

Ok I read about this on my lunch . I believe this has gone too far.  This is not Maxis this is directed at  EA.

A 5.00 PAYWALL OMG. REALLY?  Why? honestly? Yes, it is just PJ's, but if this goes well what is to stop them, from doing this more  and more and what about the sims 5?

I have subscriptions to 2 other NON EA games, and I am happy with those games, and they are not as buggy better quality and I do not have to rely on Moders to fix things.

My future with the Sims, will be decided about how this will go. If they keep this non sense up, I may re-think my future purchases for the sims, including sims5. Right now I am waiting to see if this new pack is worth it and how buggy is it .. I still will not get my wedding stories....and with all the bugs they are putting  things behind pay walls? FIX THAT BLASTED BUGS! Not Money grab EA.

Right now I am very disillusioned with EA. I am going off to reek  havoc in another game, NOT EA related.

  • I couldn’t agree more!! It’s not right! Shame on them!! They need to make this available for everyone, not just console players!!

Hi, I've been playing sims since the beginning, since sims 1, from pc, so I've been playing it for a long time now...
This thing, the console exclusive pajama set behind EA play, bothers me mostly because EA play, as many have already said, since we already spend so much on the game, on all the various packs, kits, what things more free would be free, now even putting things behind this subscription, honestly it seems excessive to me, especially for someone like me, who as a game EA only plays the Sims...
The fact that it's only for consoles, of course I'm sorry, the game should give the same things to all platforms...
But since we play from PC, we can also have the CC I consider it less serious....
Instead, the fact of the content blocked behind EA play seems much worse to me, and it also makes me fear for the future of the Sims 4 series, not to mention Sims 5...
