@rrodriguez472 Is it possible that you or other members of your family have more than one Origin account? Make sure you are logged-in on the same account that you used to download The Sims 4 last year. You can also log into Origin and check your Order History (when logged in, click on Origin in the top left of the screen and select Order History from the drop-down menu). This will take you to the myaccount.ea.com site where you should be able to find proof of purchase for that free version of Sims 4 (it was still technically a purchase, just at a sale price of 100% off) along with all of your other Origin purchases.
