As far as I have seen, this "useless" feature is a very requested one. Outside gameplay-centered requests (such as cars, baby re-do and generations) and big fix requests, more representation seems to have been a hugely requested thing for the Sims 4.
People have brought up the different ways they'd like to express their "simselves", and Maxis has listened, bringing more gender configurations, lifestyles, skin tones, clothing options and such to the game.The way you opt out from this update is exactly the same as you opt out from wild hair dyes, adult beverages and surströmming: just don't use them.

Not an answer.
Look the way I see, we already have custom genders. People who identify as male want to make themselves... they'll make themselves male, they won't make themselves female and then just use male pronouns and if they do then why bother using the male pronoun if they still make themselves female? You can also already make someone genetically one gender but look pretty much indistinguishable from the next. Reason it's useless, you can pretty much already do it.
I applaud it. I knew nothing much about the subject really until several years ago I was educated by the bravest kid I've ever met in my life on their prom night as their authentic self for the first time.
I want kids like that to be able to play this game and have it feel relevant to them just as it is to me. I don't want them to play it and feel like the world doesn't accept them. Being a christian to me means putting out kindness and acceptance, not judgement...never judgement. I guess we interpret it in different ways.
If you don't want to use it, you don't have to. But one day a kid you know might just show you their struggle and you'll understand how important this change is. It doesn't exclude anyone, it welcomes them.
Edit. This is a friendly community and a place to discuss game related issues, it's not Twitter. Let's keep it that way. We are inclusive.

It's not useless because some people do not apply gendered language to themselves, and if they make a version of themselves in game the game will constantly "He/Him" or "She/Her" at them and that's not how they refer to themselves. If you were male you wouldn't want someone constantly calling you "she/her," and if you were female you wouldn't want someone constantly calling you "he/him."
Not every Sim I have needs this option, but I'm running out and changing Darling Walsh's pronouns right now.
If you don't like the feature, no one is making you use it. You can ignore it and it will call all your male Sims "he/him" and all your female Sims "she/her" without your intervention.

No one is forcing you to do anything. There's an optional button in CAS that you never have to click. No existing townies use the new pronouns (although I think a couple of them probably should).You never have to click that button and the game will work the way it always has.
With respect, that button is not for you (which you probably don't mind my saying because you don't want it). I do understand that you don't want it, but the people who DO want it REALLY want and need it. Just tell yourself that's those other people's button for those options that you don't need in your game and carry on as you always have and you'll only notice it's there if you misclick.
- @CyberPhasma Please keep your comments game specific. This is not social media. It's a bug forum for players who don't all fit into a box of your design.
Personal judgement has no place here. If you don't want to use it don't use it. - CyberPhasma4 years agoNot applicable@xochiquetzl_xkvn But EA have implemented it throughout the game, not just in CAS

@simsplayer818I can't disable the "feauture"

Sure, it's throughout the game, but with no existing Sims using the new pronouns, you'll never see it. It's also rare to see pronouned references to other Sims. I'm trying to think of when I last saw one. "Evangelize Vegetarian Benefits"? "Spirits fading away"? Either way, those will stay the same without a Sim in-game that uses the new pronouns.

The only place you can set it is in CAS through a tiny button that you in no way are forced to click on. If you do not want to use the new feature it is quite easy to simply not use it. Since you have to specifically choose to use it there is no need for a way to disable it.
