Randomize Challenge?

Hello,

So lately I was falling into a vicious cycle of creating same-sort lives for my sims to become bored and start again. (Condition, Rinse, Repeat.)  I thought about how to make it somewhat a "surprise" so I don't lean on the same hobbies, places I choose to live and careers I would go with than others.  I live watching the random genetics Vixella does in CAS, as one doesn't know what the final result is.  Light bulb came to me where to randomize the entire life.  I found that picker wheel via google where its free to use and you can add a lot on the wheel.  (I have 34 options to choose from with careers.)

Thought I'd share?

In the beginning of CAS, I did a quick male/female 50/50 spin as I truly didn't know which gender to make. LOL.  From there, I did the one, two, three random dice roll for the entire face features.  It's not a must, but I did so as I'm calculative.   I randomized the likes/dislikes which also aids the Wonderful Whims mod (not to be confused with Wicked. *shudder*)  to aid in attraction for potential partners. If one enjoys occults, Spin to see if your first Sim is either occult or human.  Mine did land on human in the spin.

After randomizing the likes/dislikes, Her favorite color, decor, and music taste aided the rest for the outfit and looks in CAS.  Still in CAS, I saved a list in picker wheel where I wrote out all main aspirations.  Per packs one has, "Animal, Love, Family, Wellness, Food, Knowledge..." etc.  I have 13. Spun the wheel, and for my Sim it landed on Food.  50/50 with this one between chef or mixologist.  It is ones choice to either spin again or choose yourself.  (I made a quick picker list where I also have the bakery aspiration CC.) The wheel landed on Mixologist.  I don't think I ever completed that one, so it was a "okay, cool!"

Into the game, I spun which season to start in as I was undeceive. Summer it landed on.  So...two main things to spin is career and location, gender and season isn't a must but it was one of those extra randomized choices to go with.  As with aspiration, it is what sort of packs one has or doesn't. Location, I have 14. Career, I added 35.  I saved the lists that are big and bulky so I didn't have to re-add them all in again.  I made the lists while I was in my "Test" game file I use for purely looking into mods I have added to try them out.  I didn't want to start spinning and creating my Sim until I finalized the lists I felt is "required" to spin.

For career, I wanted to add challenge should something come up to not make a "perfect" lifestyle.

In my wheel I have nippick ones like:

Odd Jobs only

Freelancer

Style Influencer

Business Owner (One would choose what you like to own. Per pack Retail or Restaurant)

Veterinarian

Barista

Diver

Lifeguard

Unemployed

College

Should one land on unemployed:  That sim would have to find money with painting, collection seeking to sell, City Living market table, Plopsy, etc.  Ways of getting money through use of jobs is forbidden.  So, Rags to Riches in mind.

(DIscover Uni applied🙂  College: Whether you choose a major that compliments your aspiration or to give you a challenge spin to land on a major in a random criteria.

Jobs that are part time:  Must maintain and workup in the job, and has freedom to seek extra income through listed unemployed ways.

Per Location, I added Britechester.

So this is two rolls that may send the sim to college.  If you land on Britechester, you are required to go to college.  So what I thought was (and this could go with career section above), A. If your aspiration is close to a career path, then no career roll and you are to take the career. I.e. Master Chef in Food....you will be going for culinary arts.  Should your aspiration be something of more personality like, I.e. Popularity. Then you may spin on a career OR choose a major your own.

Before moving to the next generation you must:

* Complete Aspiration

* Complete Career Path (if unemployed/part time job: You must have a house to aid all needs, room for offspring, maintain self and enough money to continue in next generation.)

* If having Discover Uni: Must complete college.  So, College, Work path, aspiration.  An added challenge.

* Complete skills that is requested through career path.

So..It's kinda like Not So Berry, but you really don't know your next generation until you roll.

With My rolls for my female Sim:

Landed on Mixologist aspiration.

Location:  Henford-On-Bagley. The house I had enough money for has the lot challenge "simple living" so I can't make food without ingredients. Thought that would be an added challenge.

Career was the Archeology CC aspiration.

Additional skills within career:  Archeology Skill and Logic.

For kicks I added Selveradra Culture Skill to master.

And an addition to her story after seeing all, I think I'm gonna add the challenge by completion one of the Jungle Adventure collections when exploring the jungle to find stuff to dig.  (cannot be an archeologist without some reward in return. )  I believe in future generations I'm gonna do the same. Angler, complete fish collection.  Outdoor Retreat aspiration, to finish herbalism and collect all insects.  etc.

CANNOT DO:

*Money cheats, and/or cheats in general

*UI Extension

*Any mod to alters gameplay through use of cheats.

*I have wonderful Whims and Slice Of Life mod, both give an extra gameplay but doesn't roughly change gameplay as UI. i.e. menstrual and I was as moody as my sim through those several days.  (just had enough to buy pads. I feel the struggle.)  Wonderful whims does assist with personality traits and has a attraction thing that I thought was interesting to aid in potential partners and story.  (my last Not So Berry with this mod, My sim was attracted to Johnny Zest and I almost hit the floor. LOL. It was def a surprise.)

*CC content is okay for CAS and furniture items.

If anyone has anything to add, or is interested...let me know.  I am curious of both.  🙂  Thought it was a fun turn in the game, and thought to share with you guys.

Happy Simming.

  • @3Rosez That's actually pretty fun sounding. I used something similar for my alphabet legacy game. I randomed the traits for all the children and that helped shape their careers and keep it easy to stay engaged when trying to play a family for that long.
