Returning to the Main Menu WITHOUT saving is the easiest way to fix things like this. If it's too late for that, try to Recover an earlier save. You do that from the Main Menu by choosing Load, selecting the desired save if it isn't the first one, then clicking the small button next to Delete. Unfortunately, this is limited to 5 backup saves, so iit might be too late already.
