@PipMenace @JonaO703 I have seen the first person one, it's pretty cool! But you still can't directly walk with the W key on pc or the forward thumbstick. If I could make my sim walk forward with W turn and go right and left, that would be so amazing. It's such a small thing, most games control your person this way which makes for a more involved experience. Imagine veing able to walk through the city events yourself, it would make them much more excitin
I would love to be able to walk and crouch by by sims chickens, or walk my dog without being just a spectator. The point and click gives me headaches surprisingly too. The camera moves randomly when I don't expect it to. If I could have full control of my sim, this game could be almost perfect.
I use a mod called "Direct Controls Mod" by Victor Andrade. It's third-person controlling for your sims however it's not perfect and I had to stop using jt. The game needs to have it built in to the programming for it to really work. I wish I could somehow tell the sims 4 team this >.<
@hotdeer Oh okay. So you are asking for the ability to control sims directly. Now I understand. I think that would be great also. I just don't know how realistic this request is.
I'm not a game developer but I can see how this might be really difficult for a simulation game like The Sims. Perhaps someone on the Sims team could address this directly. I checked out some reviews and saw just how buggy the Direct Controls mod can be and I can see why you chose to not use it.
For games in which players have direct control, there are set story lines and set world items. Even in open worlds, the characters are still limited by these things. However, in The Sims, we have some control over how the story develops and we can modify lots in various ways which means the sims' routing must change to accommodate where objects are placed.
Interactions with NPCs also presents a challenge since they are not tied to a specific story. Nancy Landgraab might just jog on by my played sim but if they're a celebrity, she might want to stop and ogle them. There are so many different potential outcomes so having direct control over sims could interrupt the process and thereby cause unintended effects on the overall storytelling. This storytelling, and the way NPCs react, is intrinsic to The Sims gameplay.
Having direct control over my sims would be really cool but I don't think I would want to sacrifice any of the random gameplay elements to have that control.
I think they have the financial support to add this feature 😆. I also want a 3rd person over the shoulder control system in the sims 4. The sims is a very old game and the controls haven’t changed since the original release of Sims 1. I believe it makes the entire game feel very dated. Especially on consoles. This game needs to feel modern like many other sim based games. Especially when it comes to cooking and farming; even Zelda Breath of the wild has a more in depth cooking system, and that’s not even a life sim game. I just think EA should really consider changing how we can play the sims. As for effecting the stories, I would argue that this would help players have a more immersive experience when trying to talk to the NPC’s. If you play other games you know how easy it is to add dialogue trees (Mass Effect does this well, and dating sims are a great example) I hope they consider these options. I also wish I could work with the Sims team, because I have so many ideas. A boy can only dream.
