Re: Functional Cars

@TheSims4Player29Maybe, maybe not. It would be more fun to drive everywhere, but that would mean a complete re-design of the game, making it fully open-world.

And being fully open-world is what made Sims 3 so bad to play and so laggy. Even the BEST computers couldn't play it with all packs installed.

So, either you could have a smooth game, or open-world. But not both.

Even today, I have a very good computer. I can play Sims 4 at ultra settings and it plays like a dream. The Sims 3? I still can't play it with all packs without a TON of lag problems.

@AndyZhang2896, yes, your way of traveling by just pressing M to open the neighborhood map is quicker and more practical ! 🙂  @RogueToad16  and @TheSims4Player29 , maybe you wouldn't mind having The Sims 2's style of how cars worked.🤔  I does give the semblance of real life without taxing the game engine too much.😇   I just fear since many people have played TS3, if TS4 went back and did TS2 -style cars, that most people would be extremely disappointed, if not down right enraged!😮  And like @Psychotps said, even if they gave us the option of fixing up cars , this might seem a bit empty to players who had cars that could go almost anywhere in TS3. 😞

The sad thing is that no matter what they end up doing, I think people will be upset! 😞  Personally, I don't care as long as my game still runs smoothly! 😃  But so many people are demanding this and I don't think they realize that it would break the game.  But anything less than cars that can go everywhere will still have people upset.  It's a no win situation. ☹️

  • I Never Played The Sims 2 Or The Sims 3 So I Know Nothing About So You Could Be Right I Don't Know I Only Gave My Opinion😊

@TheSims4Player29, that is alright.  You might like Sims2 style of cars or you might not.  Since you've never played Sims 3 style of cars, then you are more likely to be satisfied with Sims 2 style! 😉

But we don't know if they will ever have any kind of drivable car in TS4, so only time will tell for now! 😉

  • Can you explain how open world The Sims 3 is? I only have the base game, no expansion packs at all. If you travel from base game world to expansion pack world, will there be a loading screen?

@AndyZhang2896, it's been 5 years since I played TS3, so some of the details I might not remember exactly. 😳  However, if I remember correctly , the expansion worlds in TS3 were separate. ☹️  You could not travel to them for a visit like you can in TS4.  An exception were the vacation worlds, but you would stay there at least a few days.  Vacation worlds had loading screens when you traveled to and from them.

But the worlds your Sims lived in were separate.  I think there was a way to move to another world, but I could be wrong about that 🤔.  Also you wouldn't live in one world and go out to eat in another world , for example. So, in TS4 if you were playing the Goth household and you wanted to visit your friends The Pancakes, because they are on opposite sides of that "world" (in this case Willow Creek) you travel by loading screen, but in TS3 you would just walk, bike, or drive there (or ride a horse if you had the Pets EP).  And if the roads were winding it could take a long time, especially if they walked or rode a bike. Some of the worlds were big, which didn't help matters.   And it would really take a long time if you had all the packs installed and/or didn't have the best computer. 😞

So, for TS3, you couldn't really travel between expansion worlds (unless on vacation). 🤨
