Re: Genius Sim

@EbonyRaven96 Does she have any bad moodlets? Maybe a friend died? Those can last 2-3 days. It might help if one of your sims has the "Compassionate" trait. They can help relieve bad moods. Very useful actually. You get that from childhood, kids who have high Empathy.

  • This was a problem well before I had the Parenthood pack, and it didn't matter what mood she's in. I just had her sister try to help her through the sad mood she was in, but all it got was a negative hit to the relationship bar. Even when she's happy, the bars constantly go down.

@EbonyRaven96 Yeah. I've seen stuff like that happen before. The only thing I was ever able to surmise is that there is a hidden trait or something that causes two sims to have a harder or easier time of getting along.

I've been playing these games for years. Since Sims 1 days. I have this thing about relationships in the game. I want to do them like all the time. Test them, see what I can do with it. Different sims, combination of relationships...etc.

Some sims just have a harder time than others creating relationships. Sometimes two sims will just naturally flow, I barely have to do anything. Sometimes it's like you've seen. Everything they say just results in unpleasantness.

If the sim is always in a Sad mood, you can try playing as that sim for a minute and see what's the cause of it and how long it's going to last. Death of friends last the longest I think. 2-3 days at least.
  • The family consists of vampires, and I often have aging off to work on the family to get them where I want them to be when they age up. She does have the Eternal Sadness weakness like I give most of the family. Her siblings and parents used to not have a problem getting along with her at all, but now that she lives in her own place with her own family, everything just takes the bar down and it drives me nuts. Just kind of wondered if any one knew if this was a thing with Genius Sims, like any non-Genius conversation just bores them or something. But then again, she's had that trait since she was a child, and there was no problems getting along with her. Household members don't seem to have a problem, though. So I wonder if she were to live with her siblings and parents again, would they get along no problem again.

@EbonyRaven96 Lol. Sounds like you answered your own question. If she has the Eternal Sadness trait, that's likely what's doing it. Game probably handled it differently when she was their dependent. (pre-young adult)

I never use it because of the relationship complications as you've seen. There are much better flaws to choose from that don't effect things as much.
  • The other members of the family have it too but they all get along just fine. It's just her. I still don't know what her problem is though lol. As many vampires as I have with Eternal Sadness, which is a lot, none of them have given me relationship problems. Just her.

  • I have honestly never seen Eternal Sadness affect how Sims get along. I have many vampires before her with that weakness and it doesn't affect their ability to get along with others :/

  • Maybe I'll get rid of Eternal Sadness on her and see if it actually affects how she reacts to her family outside of her household trying to talk to her and let you know how that goes.

@EbonyRaven96 There might be a way out of this conundrum. Sims with the genius trait want to be in a focussed surrounding. So try to get your sim into the right mood. You could try to play some chess game or make a painting in a focussed mood and take it with your sim to hang it on the walls and fill the space and your sim with the right mood. The focussed type of conversations could also be a point of attention to steer away from the sad mood.
