Could you check if you have the following file
You can find your default location in the EA app settings. If you installed somewhere else, look there.
<Installation Folder>\The Sims 4\EP17\Strings_ENG_US.package
If you do have this file, check if you have a EP17 folder in The Sims 4\Delta
If you do have a EP17 folder there, check if the same file can be found in there. If not, copy the file from the EP17 folder to the Delta\EP17 folder.
So, it seems to be the entire game which is wild because EA won’t let me change my language manually to other than Russian Czech or Polish. I do have the ENG US strings files — which I was surprised by for the aforementioned reason. I didn’t touch any of them, I just copied the Ep17 Strings_POL file into the delta folder Ep17 — the English strings file was already there. Interestingly, before I had done this and while the game was missing the life and death text, occasionally it would like very briefly glitch and flash into English? But I have checked and my previous pack purchases also have the Eng strings file — I suppose it auto downloaded for me for some reason every time? But yeah, all items, worlds, families, main menu, etc, are all in English now. Tbh I have wanted my game to be in English for ages but the fact that it SHOULDN’T be is concerning.
I got the base game so long ago that I got it as a physical CD, lol! 2015 or so I think. No clue how this happened, just hoping it doesn’t break everything for now hahaha!

I checked and both folders only had the strings in dutch. My whole game is in English. I copied it from a other file in both files. It still didn't work but after repairing the game again it all works again ( as it should).

repair game also worked for me, but it changed the language in the game from English to Czech (I think), sooo yaaaay 😞
