Re: One Save or Multiple Save for your Families?

@tmcevoy1121  You can always use "save as" to rename a save after you've edited a town to your liking.  That way, you can play forward one version and go back to the other if you want to start from the point where you finished editing the world.  A lot of people used to do this in Sims 3 (some still do), where they'd edit the world once and save it as a template, then start their new saves there instead of in a completely fresh world.  As long as you use "save as," the template file won't be overwritten.

Whether you'd prefer to play all your families in the same save or not depends on your playstyle.  If you like to control everything, then maybe it's best to have one active family per save.  But the downside is that your various households can't be friends with each other, since they won't be in the same save.  On the other hand, you can also disable aging for the inactive families and basically let them hang out and wait for you to go back and play them.  They might change a bit while you're not looking, but not very much.

And of course you can experiment a bit to see which you prefer.  Just use "save as" often, and you'll always have the option to revert to a previous instance of your saves.
