I applaud it. I knew nothing much about the subject really until several years ago I was educated by the bravest kid I've ever met in my life on their prom night as their authentic self for the first time.

I want kids like that to be able to play this game and have it feel relevant to them just as it is to me. I don't want them to play it and feel like the world doesn't accept them. Being a christian to me means putting out kindness and acceptance, not judgement...never judgement. I guess we interpret it in different ways.

If you don't want to use it, you don't have to. But one day a kid you know might just show you their struggle and you'll understand how important this change is. It doesn't exclude anyone, it welcomes them.

It's not useless because some people do not apply gendered language to themselves, and if they make a version of themselves in game the game will constantly "He/Him" or "She/Her" at them and that's not how they refer to themselves. If you were male you wouldn't want someone constantly calling you "she/her," and if you were female you wouldn't want someone constantly calling you "he/him."
Not every Sim I have needs this option, but I'm running out and changing Darling Walsh's pronouns right now.
If you don't like the feature, no one is making you use it. You can ignore it and it will call all your male Sims "he/him" and all your female Sims "she/her" without your intervention.
