Re: Sim is turning into an ape character when going to work?!?

@clpeters1 There currently seems to be a bug that messes with work-outfits for sims. What your sim is wearing is indeed a costume that was recently added. The problem will very probably solve itself once your sim gets a promotion and the work-outfit is automatically replaced with the corresponding one for that career level. However, if you don't want to wait that long you can create your own work-outfit by selecting your active sim in live-mode and opening the cheat-console (press Ctrl + Shift + C), then enter the following:

testingcheats on

sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas

This will lead you to a special CAS-screen where you can assign the current work-outfit for that sim. Make sure that you ONLY change that particular outfit and not any of the others!

Hope this helps!

@DMDragonCT Thank you so much! Good to know it wasn’t some random permanent thing. I didn’t know about modifying the work outfits either, so I will definitely be checking that out!

@clpeters1 Glad to be of help. And yes, there definitely seems to be something off in the game concerning work-outfits. One of my sims in the business career just got assigned the politician's outfit upon being promoted. Something very weird going on. At least it wasn't a bigfoot constume...

Better to keep that code close at hand, for it looks like it's going to be needed more often than not.

It would have been kind of cool if they had used that costume for the Hermit in Granite Falls. Maybe I will give that a try using testingcheats and editing the Hermit in CAS 🥳

@RandomBuzziness That is funny because I have already given that costume to the guy that runs around as a bear in Granite Falls! The hermit in my game was generated as this nice old lady, who weirdly enough is exceptionally good looking. Wouldn't really have fit her. But yes, that costume fits quite nicely into that world.

@DMDragonCTOh cool! Now I know this will work, thanks! :D I usually see several different Sims in bear costumes whenever I play in Granite Falls (my Sims spend lots of time there). Does the Bigfoot costume cause a Tense or any other moodlet like the Bear costume?

In my most recent save the Hermit is also an elder female but I would be fine with her dressing up as a Bigfoot. After all, the most famous (alleged) Bigfoot is a female named Patti ;-D

@RandomBuzziness I don't think that the bigfoot costume causes tense moodlets or enables any type of special interactions. That's definitely the drawback and also why my bear-guy only wears it as a secondary outfit. I was also a bit afraid that he might lose his special NPC-tag when his primary outfit wasn't a bear anymore. I've never tested this.

On a side note, it's interesting how varied different games are, because in all my years playing, the game has only ever generated a single bear character for me. I know that there's even a mod out there that stops the spawning of more bears, but I obviously never had a need for it. And since I've always played with "age active household only", the hermit, the park ranger, the bear/bigfoot and the forest ghost have been the same characters for me since the very beginning.

@DMDragonCT I'm guessing all of the NPCs for Granite Falls are generated on the first time you visit that world & there does seem to be some randomness to it. I usually do my best to ignore the Bear sims & in some of my saves there may very well have been just one, but the one save where I specifically checked their names & tag info there was at least two. In several of my saves I have seen more than one Park Ranger as well. There has always been just one Hermit but I have seen them both male and female versions.

I've never edited any of the Bear sims but I did use the Modify in CAS cheat to change one of the Rangers because I would see her in other worlds and her everyday outfit was ridiculous. Afterwards, she'd still be wearing a regular Ranger uniform when I would see her in Granite Falls. I've also changed the everyday outfit for one of the Raccoon sims from San Myshuno and she would still dress up as a Raccoon at night. Funnily enough, one time I saw The Hermit from that particular save in a karaoke bar in San Myshuno! I guess she was not so much of a Hermit after all? xD She was dressed in her regular Hermit clothes but it would have been hilarious to see her show up there wearing a Bigfoot costume! xDDD
