Hi @wthelotus
Try the following
- Close the game
- Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
- Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry
- Close the game again
- Copy JUST your save game from Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old\Saves to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4\Saves
- Start your save
- Check if you still have the error
- Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
Hi @crinrict. Thanks for replying. I did as you suggested and still have the error on both PC and Mac.
I forgot to describe what led to this problem. I had previously built a residential rental on that lot. I bulldozed that build, changed the lot type to residential, and began a fresh build, saving regularly. I exited the game and shut down my computer that night, then the next day I could not load into Manage Worlds. I've also tried restoring the previous saves from the "Load" menu upon startup, but I still get stuck on loading screen when the save tries to open into Manage Worlds.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@wthelotus Did you close down the game entirely before trying to load the backup ? Did you make any new backups under a new name or just overwrite the same one ? Is one of the old ones from when the lot was still residential rental ?

I had to force quit/end task the game in order to try to load the backup, because the game was stuck on an endless loading screen. (At one point I let the game sit for over an hour, and it stayed on the loading screen.) None of the old saves are from when the lot was still residential, because I had been saving regularly during the few hours I worked on the lot. I did make new backups under a new name; all of those have the same issue. The only time I can get to Manage Worlds is if I deactivate For Rent, and then the lot loads empty.
- crinrict2 years agoHero+@wthelotus My guess is that it's a corruption like the white world screen. Someone else reported similar.
I guess the only solution if you don't have a backup from before is to disable for rent as you said.
