Residential lot won't stop reading as business lot

Bug Report Draft for EA Answers HQ

Product and Version: The Sims 4 (latest patch, November 2025)

Platform: PC – Steam base game with some packs via EA App

Pack(s) Used: For Rent

Issue: When trying to set a lot to Residential Rental, the game throws an error message saying the lot is a “business lot.” This happens even in a brand‑new save, after bulldozing the lot completely, and before placing any rooms or builds. The error persists across different worlds and lots.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Start a new save.

2. Bulldoze a lot.

3. Attempt to change lot type to Residential Rental.

4. Error message appears asking "are you sure" about bulldozing a business lot and you can't undo this action, when there was never a business on the lot. (I'm not at home right this moment so don't have the exact wording but can get it if needed.)

Expected Result:

The lot should change to Residential Rental and allow unit configuration.

Actual Result:

The game blocks the change, mislabeling the lot as a business lot.

Workarounds Tried:

- Bulldozing lots before setting rental type.

- Saving builds as Rooms instead of Lots.

- Testing in multiple worlds.

- Repairing game through Steam.

- Testing without mods/CC.

None of these resolved the issue.

Impact:

This makes the For Rent pack unplayable, as rental mechanics cannot be used.
