Residential Rental won't load -- Error 808

I have been struggling with my residential rental lots. At first, when I clicked on the lot, I didn't get the option to Arrow up or down to see the different floors.

During this, I loaded one of the lots only to find that all the windows, doors, furniture, and fences were gone entirely.

I've managed to sort that issue for two of the four RR lots. How, I don't know. I removed my Mods folder and deleted the cache files. I did the 50/50 looking for a bad mod, but never found one that caused the issue. I put all my mods back, and two of the four now work.

Now, I still have two RR lots that I can't even enter. I either get a loading screen forever, or I get tossed back into the Manage worlds screen with an error box.

I am able to evict my Sims if I have access to them from the first floor (where I can click on a room), but I have to use the Manage Households to evict the Sims from the apartments I don't have access to.

I've evicted all my Sims and tried the trick of dropping an empty lot on top of the broken one, but that just gives me the endless loading screen again. (Or building screen in this case.)

At this point, I don't know what to do. If I leave them, knowing I'll never be able to get back into them, will they corrupt more lots? Or is there a workaround to fix it?

I do use mods, but I've taken them out, repaired my game, and deleted cache files, and I still have the same problem.

This is one of my Legacy save files. I really don't want to lose my families.

Any help would be appreciated!

  • DarkDiamondSims So just to clarify before I move you out of Mods, when you took all your Mods out, you did this by removing or renaming the whole folder and deleting localthumbcache? And it still didn't work?

Also, do you have any issues in a new save, mod-free?

Correct. I renamed the mods folder, deleted all the cache files, and it still didn't work. Both, before and after repairing my game.

  • HI DarkDiamondSims

Do you have any LastException files in Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 ?

    - Delete the ones you have
    - Trigger the error again
    - Check if new ones are created
    - If that is the case, please copy/paste the content here. You can open the file with any text editor.

Deleting the file won't fix your issue. Posting the info is meant for troubleshooting.

  • DarkDiamondSims Ok, I haven't seen or heard of either an 808 error or run into a lot that was partially loadable.  Usually, when one apartment won't load, none will, so yours seems to be unique.  Here are a few more things to try to save the lot.  Before doing anything, make a copy of the save and put it somewhere safe so you have something to fall back on if things go sideways.

Move all the tenants out via Manage Households.  Go to the landlord's lot and have them sell the lot.  Try to enter the lot in build mode from the World map.  If you can get into the lot, change all the space assignments to shared and the lot venue to residential.  At this point, if you have decided to get rid of the lot, you should be able to either bulldoze or replace it if you so choose.  Otherwise, replace whatever is missing or make any other changes you want to make.  Assign the spaces again and change the venue back to residential rental.

If you can't get into the lot and get the error or a never-ending loading screen, start over and this time when you move the tenants out, keep the furniture.  You'll have to refurnish all of the apartments if it works.

If that doesn't work, come back and we can go from there.
