Second Floor or Roof Floating Above First Floor – Need Help Fixing It

I built the first floor of my house using platforms and tall walls. Later, I changed my mind and tried lowering the walls, but now, no matter what I do, the floor of the second floor (or the roof) floats above the walls of the first floor, and I can’t figure out how to bring it down to align with the first floor. I also used some platforms, but I’m not sure where the mistake is. I hope someone will be able to help me—it would be truly wonderful…

  • From what you're describing I tend to think I would recommend going through each room and tracing them with regular walls until you complete a room to cover all areas so that all rooms end up with regular walls and floors (which should delete the platforms), then make the walls the height you want them. If this fixes the issue you could then go inside the rooms and add whatever platform areas you want.

Personally, I do not use platforms to make rooms... to avoid these issues. Also, if I use them I keep them one tile away from exterior walls, as sometimes I've seen where having them all the way to the edge of an exterior wall can cause issues. Platforms seem to work best, in my opinion, for special features, not as a primary building tool. For that I would use room/wall tools.

If that doesn't work and you would like to share the home in the gallery and describe what you want done, maybe with some screenshots, I could have a look. Please then share a link to the lot here, or the exact name of it in the gallery.

Or... you are welcome to share some screenshots with more details here of what is happening.

Thank you so much for your reply and your advice. I figured I had messed something up when I added the platforms, but to be honest, this is the first time I’ve tried using them after watching a few tutorials on YouTube. I was hoping to level up and build something more elaborate than my usual square blockhouses, hahaha. I’ll follow your advice and try adding them inside after rebuilding the basic structure. Thanks again!

Byab128 I wish you well and have fun in the process! I have my periods of playing in 'live mode' for sure now-a-days, but I've tended to spend much of my play time building in the last 2-3 years. I've grown to love the building process, but I'm no speed builder. I've had builds where I spent days working and re-working just the roof, so when something is just not working out as I planed on a lot I try to look at it not as time I wasted building up to that point, but more as this is my game, so reworking something is just me continuing to play, and in the process I try to challenge myself, learn and expand, and push myself to build something creatively or in a style that's a challenge to me.

Anyway... sorry, I digress... enjoy your building and learning process, then plunk in some sims and see how much they love living in it! 🙌
