Sims 4 game experience requests

Hey EA and Sims Fans. Anyone want to reply to this topic and make requests or ideas for Sims 4 or even for Sims 5 if EA creates one. My suggestions would be to bring back a lot of the qualities capabilites features and gaming experience as Sims 2. There should be features to travel like a family vacation or go on a cruise, travel different countries. Start your own business not just jobs. The following are things I believe should be taken out or fixed: Your Sim gets upset if you tell them"what to do" but more than half of the stuff they don't do on their own ๐Ÿ˜”all Sims 4 characters green bars down way much faster than any other Sims games. You don't even really enjoy the moment of gameplay or even able to travel anywhere without having to worry if your sim will die. The Nannys and maids barely help. A lot of glitches with not being able to cook certain things. They should have like level 1, 2, and 3 meals you can cook because at level one your most likely to cause a fire for almost everything. And eating too many snacks gives them stomach aches. As well as delivery food takes too long to arrive so you have to cook. It would be nice to see your baby resemble you and your partner instead of a totally different child ๐Ÿคญ

  • Good Morning ๐Ÿ˜„wow you have great ideas ๐Ÿ’ก that would be so fun if we could go to amusement parks zoos maybe even water parks the mall. Glad they have ice skating maybe even surfing bike riding road trips like your driving with the sim instead of them just disappearing and appearing. But maybe I'm just getting too excited ๐Ÿคญthank you sooooo much for the breakdown that helped me better understand. For the cooking good point I buy a book shelf trying to get my Sim to read cookbooks. Do you ever get a glitch when a sim waves that you and tells you there's something in the way but when you look there's nothing in the way my sim did this a few times when I was trying to cook certain meals. For the same complaining I'm talking about when you tell your sim like go to the bathroom go eat go take a shower then they get angry and say they feel like someone is controlling their lives then they go outside and kick the trash can it's so funny because I make them pick the trash can up afterwards lol. It would be nice to see them a little bit more independent it's like they complain that they're not independent but they're so dependent on us. For the green bar yeah that's weird I don't know why my green bars go down so fast like I literally let my sim go to the bathroom and like 10 minutes later they have to go again it just kind of takes away the fun out of playing because you're constantly like just trying to make them go to the bathroom or take care of themselves instead of just like going out not having to go back home so soon. ๐Ÿค—

  • So a lot of this is sort of a mix of existing DLC, current bug reports they're supposedly working on, and strategy. But it's still a good jumping-off point.

    >There should be features to travel like a family vacation or go on a cruise, travel different countries.

You can make rental lots, even in base game, though admittedly in base game there's no where in particular to go. But I suppose a Sim in Willow Creek could vacation in the desert. Various packs give more interesting destinations. Going on a cruise is not something possible yet though, and I know a lot of people would like a vacation pack with hotels and/or cruises.

    >Start your own business not just jobs

Get to Work allows you to run a retail shop or bakery; Dine Out allows you to run a restaurant; Cats & Dogs allows you to run a Vet Clinic. Whether or not the actual gameplay of these things is ideal is up for debate though. I know a lot of people want to be able to combine lot types, so they can run the business out of their home - I think this would be really cool, both for businesses and just other combined locations. Even if it was restricted to only two lot types per lot, even if you had to designate full floors as one or the other.

What would you like to see out of improvements in or the Project Rene version of owning a business?

    >Your Sim gets upset if you tell them"what to do" but more than half of the stuff they don't do on their own ๐Ÿ˜”

I believe this is referencing the unfulfilled dreams fear? I agree it's extremely overpowered; there's been discussion of that and several others in the bug forums since wants & fears were released this summer. But it doesn't technically come from "telling your Sim what to do" - it comes from not doing one of their wants. Supposedly you only need to do one every two days but I swear I sometimes need two per day to prevent this fear.

    >all Sims 4 characters green bars down way much faster than any other Sims games. You don't even really enjoy the moment of gameplay or even able to travel anywhere without having to worry if your sim will die.

I... really don't think they're supposed to go down that fast? There was a bug just after high school released where people were experiencing this though, often paired with the bar being the wrong color. I thought it was mostly resolved, but apparently they might still be looking for saves - you could review the thread and maybe send yours in.

    >The Nannys and maids barely help.

Ah yes, another bug that I don't think was ever really resolved, just buried under other bugs. Caterers, nannies, and maids coming over to watch tv or play on the computer instead of doing their jobs the way they used to.

    >A lot of glitches with not being able to cook certain things. They should have like level 1, 2, and 3 meals you can cook because at level one your most likely to cause a fire for almost everything. And eating too many snacks gives them stomach aches.

There are several level 1 meals. Yes, there's still a risk of fire with no skill, especially on a cheap stove, but that's why I always just start my Sim off with salads. You can't burn the house down with a salad! Plus, it's the healthiest meal in the game. I also frequently make my Sims watch the cooking channel the first few days, just to up their skill a bit faster for more variety.

But speaking of that salad...one ask I might have is for a gradual slow calorie burn over time, even better if it speeds up a bit when going up & down stairs or walking long distances. I believe as it currently stands, most meals add calories but the only way to get rid of them is to make your Sim obsessed with fitness. So even if they're running themselves ragged raising kids or running a business and only eating one meal a day, they still end up overweight quickly because they're not doing designated exercises. Made worse by the fact that a lot of CAS clips on overweight Sims.

    >As well as delivery food takes too long to arrive so you have to cook.

It shouldn't? Unless you have the private lot trait on (bug since at least last year; that trait blocks deliveries) they generally show up pretty much immediately. Unless you're ordering in the middle of the night - maybe they only come during business hours? But if you're consistently getting a long delay, I would start a bug report on it.

    >It would be nice to see your baby resemble you and your partner instead of a totally different child

Not only is there a bug report on this, it's one the team has acknowledged as a current focus for them.

So let's see... other than getting more bug fixes, mixing lot traits, and losing weight in ways other than just jogging or going to the gym... I think the biggest thing I want in Sims 4 is more places families can go instead of just constant bars. Maybe an amusement park, or a zoo, or a trampoline park, put put golf, something. Bowling's a start but you still can't bring a toddler. Imagine if there was a zoo lot type though, or interactive-for-kids-and-toddlers exhibits you could put in the currently basically useless museums.

Biggest thing I want for the next generation is just smarter AI. I don't think we'll get it in Sims 4, because the base is just not there. The core AI is dumb. But I really hope, in the next one, they actually make an AI capable of more complex decision trees so we don't get Sims pranking their own toilet when they have to pee, turning on music they hate then complaining about it, flirting with strangers because their spouse's mere presence makes them flirty generically, failing at taking care of toddlers because they keep taking them out of the high chair without feeding them and won't enforce bedtime if the toddler says no, walking past the Sim they're visiting with no acknowledgement just to knock on the front door, coming to visit only to ignore the family but sleep in their bed or play on their computer, doing push-ups in a bush in the middle of a conversation, walking away from a conversation to admire a poster or sniff the air, the list goes on...

Some of these things you can do already depending on what packs you own. So with Jungle Adventure or Outdoor Retreat you can take family vacations. Snowy Escape and Island Living are packs I use a lot for vacations too. I sometimes just take a tent and stay in a different world for ages until my Sim gets the homesick moodlet stuck and has to go home.

There are ways to start a business with Get to Work and you can also choose a job title for your Sim using Register with the Ministry of Labour on the phone/career panel if you haven't already tried that. So for example I have a Sim who is a furniture designer and has her own business. I also have farmers who have it as their job title and sell farm products. I've used Eco Living/Cottage Living/Nifty Knitting/Jungle Adventure/Outdoor Retreat to start most of my businesses but I've also created some with just the base game and Get to Work. So I've got a sculptor, florist and painters who sell their products and it's in their job title. I've also got archeologists, novelists and travel writers, once I found out what that Register with the Ministry of Labour setting was for I used it for all kinds of different careers and businesses as my Sims are often creative explorers and collectors so I like the flexibility.

For the green bar/needs problem you mention, that sounds like a bug if it's declining that quickly. I've found an open bug report that might be the same thing if you want to take a look at it: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-Sims-Dying-of-Starvation-in-One-Day/m-p/11671845#M226765

I usually carry round a load of harvested fruit in all my Sims inventories for quick snacks so I don't know if that will help if it is a bug but it might be worth a try. I run a back up save too anyway and Save twice before travelling as my game often crashes. So if you do have a backup save and your Sim dies unexpectedly you can get them back. It's happened to my Sims with laughing themselves to death, luckily I could revert to my backup.

The fires while cooking is really annoying and one way I get around that is to either grill outdoors or only make salads to get their skills up first. I feel like it seems to have got worse in the past year and it's happened even with a higher skill. I make sure I have the more expensive fire system but it still takes a while to sort the fire out and the Call Firefighters doesn't always work, it's quite glitchy. The snacks giving stomach aches is really annoying too isn't it. I don't know why it's there when it affects their moods. Don't get me started on Zoomers food/pizza delivery either. I totally agree it's not great. Plus I often use the Private Dwelling lot trait because I have an issue with unwanted guests wandering in...but it means the takeaway doesn't arrive. Even without it, pizzas are hit and miss whether they arrive or not. I find it's worse in apartments.

Thank you for your reply yeah you also help me a lot that's a great point I need to start buying more packs my son bought the pet pack for his account I need to start buying packs for my accounts to kind of venture out and see what Sims 4 has to offer. Thank you also for the glitch bug form because I don't think this is normal that the green bars go down so fast I haven't even played The Sims 4 game that I have in like 2 months because it's exhausting to play it when I'm honestly having to make sure that their green bar doesn't go down. Your the best! I appreciate the reply ๐Ÿ˜„๐Ÿค—

@sp44ow3hh2wk Have you found the hidden worlds yet? They make interesting spots to travel to if you've not already. I can't remember if there is camping equipment without Outdoor Retreat but I often take a tent and go on a fishing trip to Forgotten Grotto or Sylvan Glade. If you don't have camping equipment then just having enough reward points to purchase Moodlet Solvers also works, I take plenty of fruit for hunger too. There is a bathroom set up at the Grotto but not at Sylvan Glade. I go there and spend days catching rare fish and looking for collectables.
If you've not been there yet, have a friendly chat with the interesting looking tree behind Crick Cabana in Willow Creek to get to Sylvan Glade. Get level 10 Handiness Skill to access the Grotto by breaking into the cave behind the Landgraabs house in Oasis Springs and it can also be found at the picnic area at the park in the middle of the map.

@simsplayer818 Hey no not yet I may hop on the game tonight. I haven't played in like 2 months because I get exhausted from reviving my Sims every 5 minutes. I need to check that forum you gave me how to fix it. The couple I made was going well in the beginning now the dude always puts negative signs when talking to the female ๐Ÿ˜–I may make them break up start a whole little story line lol. Tell me about your Sim or Sims character I'm curious. You can dm me too if you like.

I have around 200 Sims I think. Some of my creations are on this thread: https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/Share-Your-Newest-The-Sims-4-Creations-Here/m-p/11511696#M61947

There are all kinds of different amazing creations from other players too that you might be interested in. Both Sims and Builds. Some players have added theirs to the Gallery too and they are awesome. Look out for a building on there that looks like a cat if you have cat's and dogs!

I usually start out with a big family of different generations and split them into different households to play them individually. I add different relatives in Manage Households later on if I want to keep that family going. So my favourite family is the Soldado family who started with elder parents with 2 adult and 1 teen kids and an adult sister and a best friend for their older daughter whose surname is Reyna. The older daughter now has her own household with a husband and 3 kids, the sister has hers with husband and 4 kids, the teen is at University and the son married his sister's best friend and they have a household. I add in laws for the spouses and then create households for them too. So I end up with a network of family members across worlds. I've done similar for a few other families too. The Soldado, Marquetta, da Silva and Soto families are all related and span 5 different worlds and I've lost count of the number of households.

I'm going to DM a tip to you that I've figured out to help your Sims while they keep losing health. I'll not add it here because it's my own cheat I've designed for console and it looks a bit daft but it does work.

I'm not able to play my game at the moment because of crashing that got a lot worse since the HSY patch many weeks ago and I also don't want my complex family networks to be damaged by the autonomous mean interactions bug. So once these are fixed I can play again. I usually play it every day and have done since Sims 1 so I'm missing it a lot. I've got other games but nothing beats the Sims for me.

@sp44ow3hh2wk Yes the game sets a recommendation for the number of Sims you have but you can also move Sims you've created into Other Households. They become townies after that but they keep their relationships. You can still go back to them later if you have moved them into Other Households, it just frees up space. I usually keep under 150 Sims in my Households. I regularly go through Other Households and delete random townies regularly to keep that number at around 70-100 as the game can automatically cull Sims from Other Households. I keep mine at the top by regularly editing them to keep them safe. I find that the game lags a little if Other Households and My Households are too packed with Sims.
I usually play a household for a week or two depending on what they do. For a Sim with a business I might play them for longer, especially if they are an explorer/collector.
My favourite Sim is an explorer named Anais Dembele. She is a scientist, a space explorer and she completed the Strangerville mystery so she's a folklore hero too lol. She's collected every single collectable in the game from scuba diving in Sulani, to going to space and exploring Sixam, she's also completed Jungle Adventure and collected all of the treasure. Jungle Adventure is awesome if you wanted a challenge to add to your game. These are my favourite kind of Sims. I like the ones that just pack a tent and a portable camp fire and go anywhere. I usually then sell the collectables in a retail lot so my other Sims can purchase them.
