Sims cannot enter lot

I created a lot with 8 Sims each having their own kitchen, bathroom, living room, and bedroom (a 5 hour build).

None can enter the house and I cannot see into the house. I currently play on Xbox One. I've evicted the household and moved them back in. I've removed the doors and walls and they still can't go in.

I reviewed other answers from people who had similar issues and applied responses, was met with no resolution. Still having the same issue. Its frustrating me and hopefully someone can offer help without offering cheats.

I've made my own universe integrating the Sims I have created, so they can interact with each other and I fear cheat codes will screw up the file because I'm shooting for 100% achievements.

You do not have a landing in front of the door. This is required. The stairs can not go directly to the doors.

Not having a landing pad was the issue!!!! Thank you so much you brilliant person!!!

Thank you 5000x over! You're awesome

  • Actually it worked for a second then went back to no access for anyone.

    I give up...

@cno0 It still failed even with the porch? That's odd.

Try clearing the game's cache files. Maybe try changing the door to a different one.

I ended up having to move it to a bigger lot unfurnished, create landing strips for each flight of stairs, and use a different door, then redecorate.

It was a hassle but it FINALLY worked and all sims entered the lot! I played the household all night and it made me very happy.

It's pretty odd behaviour though. Is the staircase unusable when it is placed on the road side or not facing the road?

That's what I was thinking. I noticed the front of the building was quite close to the edge of the lot. Which is why, in my pic, I decided to put the stairs facing either side instead of directly on the front. Plus, having the stairs on either side with the railing kinda fits the building's aesthetic.

I wonder if you have stairs facing forward, right at the edge, are sims not able to get up?

It worked for me fine as is but I had it placed on a portrait lot so the stairs were facing another lot with only grass between them. What happens if the lot is placed on a 30x20 landscape lot so the stairs are facing the road? Maybe that's the difference? Can't load my game at the moment but can check later.

I did not have to edit the lot in anyway. The stairs worked perfectly fine as they are.

@Bluebellflora Yea, mine worked fine as-is too. But I know some people have had problems with certain houses with a foundation and only the stairs as a landing.

I tend to not use foundations much unless the house would look odd without it. Ones like on Sulani just look natural with the stilt-foundation.

I'll likely check it too... for my own info sake.
