Sims can't go home again

Immediately following the July 29th patch, the active Sim family in my current save are unable to return to their home lot. Attempting to do so causes the game to crash to the desktop. Subsequent patches have not appeared to fix the problem. Repairing the game through the EA launcher has also not solved this issue. Changing graphics settings to low also does not allow the lot to load, nor does loading the game using DirectX 9.

Prior to the July 29th patch, I experienced no difficulties in travelling to the home lot.

I am able to enter and modify the lot in Build mode. I was also able to load into the lot in Live mode in a game saved before the July 29th patch.

The home lot in question is a rather extensive build (64X64 lot, 7 stories, etc.) and is currently classified as Residential/Small Business.

I have all currently available Expansion packs, most Game packs and Stuff packs, and a few kits installed. I do not use any mods in my game.

I'm attaching a copy of my July 29th save file, my last crash, last exception, and a couple of other diagnostic reports.

If there's any other information I can provide, please let me know.

  • HI jjbadgett12

it does sounds like an issue with the house.

Can you test if it works with another family and if that family works in another house though to make sure it's the building ?

Usually it's very tedious to find out what is making the game crash on a specific build. Do you have your heart set to this one ?

  • Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I got the time this evening to do some additional testing.

Using my July 29th save game, I visited the faulty lot with a sim from another family and then got the house to load in Live mode for the original family by clicking on the front door and switching control.

I tested it again with a later save game and got the same results. Then I created a new save with the original family at their home lot and exited the game. I restarted the game and was able to load the new save without crashing.

It might be time for my sim family to move to a more modest home, but it looks like I have at least a temporary solution.
