Sim's cell phone still doesn't open AFTER removing all mods

Sim's cell phone still doesn't open AFTER removing all mods. For DLC packs, I just have Lovestruck.

The cell phone makes a sound and does an animation when I click on it

This is what I tried so far:

  • Saved and exited Sims 4
  • I only had mods for hair, clothing, makeup, and skin. Regardless, I removed them all and deleted localthumbcache.package as instructed by other threads.
  • Relaunched Sims 4 and resume the game with my sad bald sim
  • Click the cell phone. It still doesn't open and just makes a sound and animaton.

I have also tried

  • Verifying the integrity of the game's files through Steam

What should I try next?

    Try the following

    • Close the game
    • Rename Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4 to Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 4_Old
    • Repair the game
    • Start the game. All your content will be gone now as the game created a new folder. All your saves/.. is still in the old folder so not to worry. Be aware that your claimed event rewards will also be gone for the time being but you will get them back with your other things.
    • Start a new save game
    • Check if you still have the error
    • Report back with your results for further steps on how to get your stuff back.
