Not 100% sure but I think stuff on pedestals is just get sold no matter the activities. 

I have a business that doesn't sell anything but still if I put stuff on a stand, it gets sold.

I have no idea if it's a bug or not, since there is an activity for it.

    Wouldnt make sense that would render the interaction useless and a waste of the 5 options
