Sims stuck walking in place on landing of stairs

Does anybody else have this issue where when you have an L or U-shaped stairway, the Sims get stuck for several seconds walking in place when they reach the landing? Eventually they snap out of it and continue down the stairs, but it's annoying it because it wastes time. I have only seen it happen when they're going DOWN the stairs, not up.
