Sims won’t shop on second floor of retail shop

This is my first time playing a sim owning a retail store, and I have noticed that no customers will shop on the second floor. The items up there are set for sale, and there’s nothing blocking their path. Has anyone else experienced this?

  • I don't know.
My second floor is usually space for my sim's office and living space.
Sometimes they work late and sleep at the shop.

I would put the most profitable items on the first floor though.
  • Did you download it from the gallery and was it made with moo enabled? Sometimes that can result in a sort of 'hidden' railing blocking the staircase. Trying controlling a sim manually and directing them to the top floor to see if they can walk up there.

No, and I’ve had my sim go up to the second floor with no issue.
  • I have a mall with various stuff for sale, electronics, gift items, clothes, etc. Sims mostly shop from the Christmas decorations isle and from the gift shop with small decorative items, both located on second floor. Not sure if it's the cost that is attractive or something else. They rarely shop for clothes or electronics. Also, I've noticed in the electronics isle that some cameras are not accessible due to being put inside some display cases that I think are intended for something else.
  • i just built a two story store and none of the non playable sims will go up the second level

  • I have been having this same issue, I noticed that the only thing that brings customers upstairs for me is putting out free ice cream made from the ice cream machine. as soon as i put it out customers run upstairs. some stay upstairs but some return downstairs. and under my business activities i have “eat”. so far ONLY the ice cream brings them upstairs idk why they love it so much, if i put the popcorn popper upstairs nobody cares, it’s not a huge hit in general.

but yeah, if you guys want more foot traffic upstairs in your small business, put the icecream maker up there & assign an employee the task of making icecream.
