[SOLVED] SIMS 4 Game crashing when walls and floors turn black

Just today I my game crashed like 6 times. The first time I don't know why as I was simultaneously on the internet checking for updates and watching tv so I didn't really care. After I updated the mods (and got rid of some I dont use) I went back into the game. Seemed fine at first. My Sim loaded at the park in San Myshuno but when I went to the residential rental I built, the walls and floors were black then the game crashed again. Clearing cache and everything I went back in and same thing.

Turned my laptop off for a bit thinking maybe it needs to rest from being on all night basically. Tried again later but decided not to go to the lot and stay in the park for a bit. Clicked on the relationship panel and the game crashed. Put back in the mods I dont use (which had to do with editing relationships, literally only clicked it once just to make sure it worked in game then never again used it) and then I remembered reading a thread a few days ago that lots were crashing so I went into the world map after loading the game then clicked on a different household/lot and it was fine. Played for a few minutes, fine. Went back to the original household, walls and floors black again then crash.

I'll check mods later but I'm gonna post this here for now. Does anyone have any answers? Has this happened to anyone else?

    @leonyjianmu Hello,

    Is your game fully updated? If not, please update.

    In this case, an outdated or missing graphics card driver is one of the most common causes that makes the Sims 4 keeps crashing, so could be the cause. Sometimes, corrupt game files in Origin can cause Sims 4 games to keep crashing. There may be compatibility issues or software conflicts in your PC.
    There are many possibilities, but I don't think it's an issue with the game itself, so it must be an issue with your PC. Please look into the possible causes I listed above!

    @leonyjianmu 

    Are you using a Mac or Windows machine? 

    Have you removed the entire Mods folder, trashed the localthumbcache.package file then launched the game, loaded the Lot and seen whether the walls and floors turn black still?

    If the vanilla game doesn't fix it, could you upload the problematic rental Lot to the Gallery so I can download and test in my game?

    @Bluebellflora yeah, i suppose. i moved the problem household to a new world and the game crashed again. played the residential rental thinking they were the problem and the game crashed still. i removed both the lot and the household and things seem fine now. i guess there was bad cc on the lot and on one of the sims, ha

    Did you try loading it without your Mods and after trashing the localthumbcache file as I suggested? You could maybe narrow down the cause 🙂
