What doesnt The Sims team understand ???
Sims 2 is the highest regarded, best selling, and most critically acclaimed sims game of all time. It is considered the glory days of the game & EA. Yet Ultimate Collection isnt even for sale on the EA app, and every sims installment has only deviated further and further from the gameplay we knew and loved on Sims 2. WHERE IS THE OFFICIAL REMASTER OR RE-RELEASE of what is universally considered EA's best work- especially in the sims franchise? They could just fix all of the bugs from Ultimate Collection and clean up the graphics a bit, and rake in tons of money and reclaim the old player base.
Sims 3 is probably the second best- with new welcome additions like the color wheel and open world- but had ridiculously long loading screens, overheated almost every computer, rabbit holes, and massive amounts of bugs. Plus a terrible microtransaction store nobody cared about
Sims 4 has had the roughest go of things but is FINALLY starting to do better (so they'd naturally announce when things are looking up that theyve decided to end its run and start working on Sims 5.... unserious). The only good parts are CAS and the free to play option. They couldnt give us an open world, we still have rabbit holes, the color wheel is gone, there is no way to upload creations with CC included- to the gallery, they've largely just re sold the same games to us for the 4th time (how many times are we gonna buy pets, vampires, and seasons?? These had even LESS content). Mods have entirely carried the Sims 4 game & team.
Because of how poorly received all of the changes in Sims 4 were- EA now wants to make even more changes that nobody was asking for in Sims 5: like relying completely on microtransactions, cross-progression onto mobile that will likely severely limit features, no solid guarantee or ideas of how mods/CC will be allowed in the game (which have literally kept the franchise alive and been its life support for DECADES now), limited multiplayer which nobody was asking for and doesnt fully commit to the idea either, and apparently they forgot how they destroyed SimCity. It seems the same thing is happening to the franchise.
It would be a VERY welcome change for EA to just go back to making Sims 2 expansion packs or gameplay that basically just copies The Sims 2 in its new game. At this point there is no intricacy or uniqueness to the franchise, and EA is only cheapening it and destroying their loyal player base. I cannot think of a single EA franchise that is on the rise, and theres a reason for that.
