White Screen, no text or images when selecting New Game

Hi all,

So I updated my game after purchasing some new packs before the Aug Sale ended but after installing, and running the game I can access the main menu, play scenarios and continue on from old load games but I can not start a new game, when I select the new game option it simply opens a blank white screen with no text, no loading images, nothing, and my CPU and Memory Skyrocket. I have my game saved on a external hard drive, I also have CC but neither have given me issues like this before. not sure if this is a common issue, a me issue or a combo of things not working together to cause this.
