@CrystalCover In Sims 4 I play with aging off so have nor really been dealing with death, but... I'm wondering if perhaps in this case the Sims just had a remnant moodlet that hadn't timed out? Or perhaps the reaction got a bit 'cached in'? Did you try leaving the lot then returning (or leaving the game and returning if that wasn't enough)? More possible ways to try to deal with their reactions to the death may be to use cheats to make them 'happy', and if that doesn't shake them out of it, you could try returning to a previous save from before the death occurred. (Directions in the spoiler tag below.)
Having said all of that, if this is your point, I can see what you mean – that it would be good to have them react to the Sim coming back to life with excitement and a happy moodlet (or even a better one).
SpoilerRecovering game to a previous game save:
Go to the Main Menu and choose 'Load Game'...
Select (click on) a saved game (to reveal the small folder icon)...
...then hover over the small folder icon ('Recover Save' will pop up) and click this folder icon...
This will reveal your most recent saves on that 'Game Save'. Select the 'Recover' button on the version (see time stamp) that you prefer:
