Why can't I place additional empty lots in Sims 4??

I would really like to know why I can't place lots to help expand my town like in all of the previous Sims games, it seems kind of dumb that you created a town and the description says its to expand your creativity but you cant... grow... the... town....... is there an update coming that will allow this?? I've run out of lots for my family tree and I'm really upset!!! No one seems to be talking about this....

Super helpful! I think it's Sims 3 that you can add empty lots and have much more 'creative control' in it. You can add a lot of other cool thing like trees and boulders, ect, too. I wonder, if you have largest lot (54x54), if you can add two smaller lots?? 🙂

@KatAnubis I agree it would be nice but there is always Newcrest with 15 empty lots and nothing else. Perfect for family generations you can own the whole town :P
