Why does the Spark'd website say the challenge is closed?

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Attempt to submit a storytelling entry to The Sims Spark'd Golden Age challenge. Or, visit the site and see a banner across the top sayimg that the challenge has been closed: https://www.ea.com/games/the-sims/sparkd
What happens when the bug occurs? The deadline for the golden age Spark'd challenge isn't for hours (I first encountered this bug at 3 PM Eastern-- already one of the later time zones) yet by all accounts the challenge appears to have been closed.

The site still says that the deadline is 11:59:59 on the 21st.
