Your predictions for The Sims 4 in 2020?

Hey everyone! I would like to share my predictions for The Sims 4 in 2020 and also read some of your predictions too!

*Please note that these are all predictions, they may or may not come true*

SIMS 4 OVERALL -

I do believe that this is the last year for The Sims 4, it's been going almost 6 years. BUT, I do think we're going to get a bunch of content this year that everyone is asking for! 🥳

EXPANSION PACKS -

Now pretty much everything that we've wanted has came back. But, what are we missing you ask? Generations. This is by far one of the most wanted pack in TS4.. What will most likely be in this pack? CARS! It actually really fits this pack if you think about it because teenagers can learn to drive! It would be the most obvious pack to add cars back. Lets not forget about toddlers, children and elders! TS3 had so much to offer for all of these age groups with the Generations pack! If you think about it all of the expansions in TS2 & TS3 have been brought back in some sort of way except Generations. (We had Parenthood but that wasn't an expansion) Most of us are hoping that cars will be base game though as they were in TS3, but you never know! 😉

GAME PACKS -

I don't really have lots to say about game packs in 2020, we will obviously get them but no more than two. I do think werewolves, improved vampires, fairies have a chance of coming back in some way.

STUFF PACKS -

We've already had 1 stuff pack this year: Tiny Living! We also know that a DIY stuff pack is in the making because it's a pack the community voted for! Now, what's something we had in TS3 which was awesome but don't have in TS4? The color wheel 😛 This is also a thing players have been begging for since day 1. We kind of got it back with Cats and Dogs but not really as it was more of a paint tool and could only be used on pets. If you think about it, the color wheel would fit right into the DIY stuff pack as the whole concept is the whole "Do it yourself thing". The color wheel was actually called "Create a Style". It does really fit this pack a lot but, yet again, people want it in the base game!!

Thanks for reading my predictions! I'd love to see your ones in the comments and also let me know if I missed anything! 😉

  • My prediction (aka guess) is that Sims 4 still has a few more years to go and that we'll eventually get multiplayer online options.

As much as I'd love to see a Sims 3-style color wheel I'm afraid something like that would bloat the size of save files and greatly increase loading screen times. For me the loading screen takes about 10 - 15 seconds when travelling to a new lot & I'm perfectly fine with that. My laptop isn't the greatest. If the loading times were ever to increase to like a minute or more, then that would start to get annoying pretty fast.

If we do get a Generations-style pack for children and teens the things I'd wish for the most are bunk beds and to be able to have friendly sleepovers/ slumber parties. Prom nights and special pranks just for teens were very cool as well. Cars might be tricky as some worlds and neighborhoods don't even have roads, and even with those that do there isn't much room for driving around. I do love the idea of a Generations-style pack though.

My biggest wish for an existing pack is to have dive lots added to Sulani for scuba diving. It doesn't have to be anything too grand or ambitious, maybe even just two lots about the size of the hidden worlds in Willow Creek and Oasis Springs with spawners for shells and other goodies similar to beach-combing. It would mostly just be a visual effects thing with underwater lighting and swimming vs. walking, but nothing completely game-changing. We already have the spawners, the loot, and a timer for how long the dive will last.

  • @natsnorigin  Interesting predictions.  Though I agree with @RandomBuzziness.  I think that we probably have at least 2 more years of Sims 4.

That said, I think we are going to get another vacation type world as a game pack.  Probably a mountain type world.  And I think we are going to get some of the iconic characters from earlier versions of the game in some kind of pack though I really hope it is an expansion pack rather than a game or stuff pack just to have another bigger world with 4 or 5 zones.  I think this because of the recent survey and what I think I read between the lines from the questions asked, so to speak.  I really hope the devs will publish the results of that survey as I am curious to know what came out on top.   I also think we're going to get some type of rural world since that seems to be the other major gameplay from the earlier versions that hasn't been seen yet.  And finally, probably as the very last thing we get before Sims 4 ends, be it this year or next year, is I think we will get some type of CAW.  Both 2 and 3 had them.

As you said, most of the packs we have gotten thus far are things we have seen in earlier versions with a different twist and work a little bit differently.  I'm hoping we're going to get something totally new that hasn't been done before but fits into the traditional way the game plays.  I think Strangerville was maybe some type of test in a way to see if the mother plant quest would be accepted by the sims community since that type of thing had never been done in the game before, at least not in 2 anyway.  Same can be said about the conservation cleanup quest in IL.  I have no idea what that something new would be though but I do hope that it would be something other than a quest type thing.

You seem to want cars just like a lot of others.  While they were included in both 2 and 3 and I played them in 2 but not 3, I found them pretty much useless because the Sims has never been an open world game where you could actually go for a drive like in GTA and other games.  In 2, the only thing you could actually do with them was back out of the driveway and then either disappear when a sim went to work or get a travel screen and go to a venue and when you got there the car traveled to the middle of the lot and parked on the street.  You could make out and woohoo in them and that was pretty much it.  So in my opinion, they were really no more than a big deco object as far as gameplay was concerned.  Nice to have as props in a story but not very useful otherwise.  I also found that most of the cc cars I had were pretty much all high poly and really had a negative impact on graphics performance and were the source of many of my crashes so I simply stopped using them.   I would rather see more actual game play things added to give our sims more to do rather than giving us cars.  And like @RandomBuzziness says, some of the worlds we have now have no roads so they wouldn't work there at all.

Otherwise though, a Generations type pack would be great since there is not a lot to do with toddlers, children and elders.  More gameplay options there are really needed.  But since this thread is about predictions, I won't go into my "wish list" as much as would like to here.   Thanks for starting the thread though.  I'm interested in seeing what others think may be coming our way.

@natsnorigin,  sorry, but  @CGrant56@RandomBuzziness  are correct in that TS4 has about 2, possible 3 years left to go. 🙂 About a year ago the SimsGurus told us as much! 🙌 They have always stated that TS4 is a bit different than other versions of The Sims and would be implemented slower and last longer, and this was why in the fist several years they only gave us one EP per year.  That changed in 2018 with Seasons and Get Famous.  Also, they just had a major rebranding last summer, which would be pointless if there was only to be a year and a half left to go from that point.

Yes! I would love a Generations type pack! 🥳  However the developers seems more focused on young adult and adult Sims.  But I hope I'm wrong! 🤞 We really need more distinct activities for every age group but those 2.
I do not think we will get cars, or if we do it won't be what everyone wants for cars.  But like @RandomBuzziness and @CGrant56 stated, without an open world there isn't much use for cars other than looks.  And the Developers have already stated that we can't have an open world with the engine that TS4 runs on. Forgotten Hollow (Vampires GP) and Sulani (Island Living EP) don't even have roads.  So, if we were to get cars it would be like it was in TS2 where we just pull out of the driveway and disappear, only to reappear to pull into our driveway.  Wile some people would be satisfied with this, I think a great many will be very upset and feel cheated, especially if they played or at least have seen TS3.  So I think having TS2 types of cars will do more harm than good.  The best feature from a car we can expect is the fixer-upper car that we had in both TS2 and TS3 that your Sims could fix up to either own or sell for a nice profit! 🙌 That would probably be the best gameplay value we could get from a car without an open world. 😉

As for Stuff Packs, we just got Tiny Living, and then latter we will get the Knitting Stuff pack (You called it DIY because of the art style vote which the DIY Delights art style won, but this pack will still be a knitting pack 😉 ).  I seriously doubt we get any more than that! 😉  Stuff packs were more important in the early stages of the game when we didn't have many items to begin with.

Also, the return of Create a STyle or CASt will not happen , at least not as it was in TS3.  (It is possible that they might make a very limited version of this, but I highly doubt it).  When TS4 came out there was a huge outcry over it not having CASt .  While my heart was bitterly disappointed (as this was the best thing about TS3) , my brain was thrilled that I wouldn't have to wait for 20 minutes or more just for Build/Buy and CAS to load because of Create A STyle! 😞  So while I really, really miss it, I do see the necessity of its absence! 🤨  Perhaps if and when there is a TS5 they can implement a CASt system that will work better!  But TS4 isn't built to work with this so I don't think it will ever happen for TS4. Like @RandomBuzziness , it would seriously bloat and slow down the game!😢  And even if we, by some miracle, could get a CASt color and pattern wheel, something as requested and gamechanging wouldn't be in a Stuff Pack.  It would go along with an Expansion Pack and have to be given free in the update right before the EP was released, or else the people who didn't buy the EP would have games that would be incompatible with those who did buy it! 😞

Other than the Knitting SP , the most likely pack we would get would be a Farming EP (or GP) and it would include horses.  Horses have been asked for since Cats & Dogs didn't include them.  They would not be as useful as they were in TS3 due to the lack of an open world in TS4, but matched with a Farm pack, they would have a purpose! ❤️🙌 A farm pack would probably include cows for milk/butter/cheese, chickens for eggs, sheep for wool, and possibly llamas for wool and because llamas are an icon of The Sims! We should also see some new harvestables in the way of crops such as oats, wheat, soy, rice, and/or corn.  I also hope they make old-fashioned hand pumps for water (to be used on Off the Grid lots) as well as windmills . Also, wool or llama wool could enhance our knitting pack and also lead to a possible weaving loom in the farm pack. 🥳
As for the probablility of us getting a pack like this?  The Developers have hinted at it!  In the Guru Garage Livesteam that took place right before Discover University was released, on of the Sim Gurus entered a bit after the others. When asked where he'd been, he replied "Oh, I've been working hard down on the farm!" and then he stifled a grin! 🤨😃 The Developers have been known to drop hints like this.  They did it with numerous packs. No, its not official, but this is exactly the kind of teaser information that they like to give! 🙂

Yes! It is possbble that we could get another Game Pack that would have another supernatural with it!  Werewolves are highly requested.  I would love werewolves, but I really want Fairies!!!  Vampires don't need imporving so much as they need bug fixes! 😮  Other possible supernaturals would be Genies or Zombies. It EA/Maxis were to improve any existing supernaturals, Ghosts and Aliens need it the most... which brings me to ….

The survey that we had last month! I think most of what to expect with packs or free content this year can be found in that survey.  One of the questions was which packs would you like to see upgraded and then you got to choose 3.  If Get to Work were to win, they very well might upgrade those Aliens!  Right now, pretty much everyone I've talked to have said that Get to Work was one of their choices.  (Yes, Vampires could also win and get upgraded, but I don't think they need to be as long as their current bugs get fixed).

Also on the survey is something important that @CGrant56 mentioned...another vacation world!  And like he also said, this is most likely to be a mountainous/cold and snowy locale. A lot of questions revolved around what type of winter activities would you like to see (skiing, snowshoeing, ice fishing, snow boarding, etc.   and even different types of skiing were mentioned!)
For people without Seasons, the snow and cold would most likely only be in that location. A pack like this would most likely be a GP much like our 2 other vacation packs (Outdoor Retreat and Jungle Adventure).

Also mentioned on the survey was if we would like to run our own hotel and if we were interested in our Sims owning more than one home. 🙌 This could be incorporated into the Mountain vacation pack or be a separate pack.  That might be an EP then instead of a GP.  I know a lot of people really want to run a hotel in the game, so I really think that that might be one of our packs! 🥳

And, as always, the developers could surprise us with a pack that nobody expects! 😃
