My graphics card is Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650, I think it's like 4 GB (?). Sorry, I don't know a lot about this kind of thing. I have all my settings on Ultra, and I followed this tutorial showing what settings to use via the Nvidia control panel. My CAS screenshots are godawful. If I zoom the camera up close to the sim the screenshot looks okay but full body shots are disgusting. I made some custom content and would like to include a decent screenshot when I upload it but apparently I'm too stupid to take non-horrid screenshots. Sigh. Any help will be wonderful.

I'm not sure I understand the problem, but the game is designed so that things look better up close (there are different LODs). Can you show an example of what would be a good full-body screenshot (like something from another creator)?

I finally got frustrated and re-installed my game so I wonder if that has anything to do with my problem. I tried repairing the game, as well. I hadn't thought of using the snipping tool. That's a good idea. I did try taking a screenshot using the print screen button but it didn't seem to be any better. It's just that I haven't made anything for TS4 in about a year and I don't remember the faces looking that bad in full body and 3/4 body shots. I was worried something was wrong with my game or worse, my computer. I thought there was a way around the problem but it doesn't look as if there is.

Oh, any image will look like that if you zoom in to a larger size than the image has pixels. When you zoom the camera in within the game, it's generating a new image that looks closer up but it's the same number of pixels. That's why the quality doesn't degrade inn the same way.

Well, I updated the driver and the problem is persisting. When I take a screenshot of the sim's face close up in CAS it looks beautiful but full body ones are very pixelated. Maybe this is normal behavior for sims given that CAS items, including skin, have small resolution textures. Maybe I can try the HQ mod. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So sorry for the late reply! I thought this thread was going to be closed so I didn't check for any replies. So, I took some screenshots in CAS and in live mode. If you open the full body images in Photoshop (or anything that will let you look at the image) the faces look awful. Maybe it's normal? I haven't made anything for Sims 4 in about a year and I don't remember the screenshots looking this bad but perhaps it's been this way all along and I just never noticed. It's mostly the full body shots that are terrible. The face up close looks okay.

Edited my post to add that the full body shots that I cropped to show just the face are small screenshots. I thought about making the images larger in Photoshop but figured it would make the images look worse. Sorry if they're too small to see and again, maybe it's normal and I just never noticed before.

You could try this GraphicsRules Override or GraphicsRules Setters.
Altering the GraphicsRules file will increase the quality of graphics. Use the first link if you want easy copy/paste. Second option if you would like to fine tune some of the options.

I'm not totally sure this will solve your issue. You could also try taking screenshots with Answers HQ anyway.

Is it because you're using alpha custom content? Alpha tends to be sharper and more finely detailed whereas Maxis content is a little more "blurred", and cartoonish, often with some boxy or jagged edges. You could try using a full body alpha skin, see if it looks more balanced.

Not sure if that's the issue, just my best guess.

I'm sorry, y'all. I'm beginning to think it's just me. As I said, I haven't made anything for TS4 in a while and I don't remember the screenshots looking this bad. Anyway, maybe this will help. I took a full body screenshot in the game (the dress is mine and I plan to upload it so I need a full body shot) then I open the screenshot in Photoshop to work with it, zoomed in, and this is what the face looks like. This is a screenshot of what's on my computer screen, if that makes sense. Anyway, the face is so pixelated that it was shocking to me. I guess I'm just wondering if this is normal.

Here's a vanilla sim. I had nothing in my mods folder when I took this screenshot. This image is a full body shot taken in CAS that I opened in Photoshop, zoomed into the face, then took a screenshot of what's on my computer screen. It's ghastly. Look at those lips! Is this normal?

I'm not sure if I can find one online that hasn't been resized for the purposes of a website. That doesn't make sense so I'll try to rephrase that. At Sims Resource, for example, a screenshot has to be 800x600 pixels. I think other websites may have similar restrictions so how would I find a high resolution image? Does that make sense?

Good luck. I don't see any issues so far. I think the screenshots look normal. Things becoming pixelated when zooming in isn't odd. What is your screen resolution for playing the Sims? Can you make it higher?

I think this is normal that when you take a screenshot and zoom in it's getting blurry. The same happens in my game in live mode when I zoom in a full body screenshot.

Huh. I guess it's normal then. I do seem to have better results if I take a 3/4 body shot. Unfortunately, I have resize the image in Photoshop to a smaller size and that just makes things worse. >:(

My resolution is 1920x1080. I think it's possible to force a bigger resolution using SRWE. I may try that and see if it helps. Going to try the graphicrules.sgr that SimplyJen linked. This method by Katverse is an option, as well.
