Celebrity meet & greet

So I set up a celebrity meet & greet for my B Lister Sim who is a lvl 7 actor. However, once there although there are various activities he needs to do to make the event a success he can't do any of them. Everyone is just standing around while the clock ticks down. I can't even end the event by sending him home. If I click on his phone to "travel" he just chats to some unknown person & if I click "go home" he walks to the end of the lot & just stands there. What can I do to avoid losing this Sim? Unfortunately I saved the game with him there before I realised there was a problem so I can't go back to the previous save.
  • Guys, I want to let you guys know something there is two meet and greets, the Celebrity meet and greet is the ones that is automatically randomly generated by the game by other celebrities though are in the lounges with the up and coming lot trait. The other meet and greet is a fan meet and greet, you unlock it at level 2 of fame, this meet and greet is a social event you unlock to sign autographs for your fans, and can be in certain community lots and home lots depending on where you want to host it. I believe that answers the confusion.
  • And here I thought it was just a problem in my game. While my Sim didn't get stuck (he rode it out to its dismal ending) no fans were present for him to 'greet'. No signing of autographs, no selfies with fans, etc. Not only that, but he held it after a Gold Medal Concert, and set things up in a restaurant. Poor teen was ravenous, too. The waiter came by to take the order, but no food was ever delivered. I realized something was amiss when I saw there was no one in the kitchen. Finally, the lights went out in the restaurant, a strong indicator they were closing for the night. :open_mouth: He went home hungry. I don't think he lost any ground, however, else I'd really be upset. Gaining that third star was hard enough and he's very, very, very slowly edging toward the next star. He just became a B-lister. Sounds as if the "Meet & Greet" has issues.
  • I had one last night in my game and just chose my sims apartment. He's living with Lobo in his apartment for now .. so it's a pretty big apartment. It dinged off for meet & greet even before the party went to gold. I always feel like I want to have those things .. or other parties in places I know well and can control.
I thought it was weird that I only picked one fan and but many, many showed up but figured that was just the way it worked.

I would think it's a bug or just trying to process too much kind of glitch. I always exit game and see if it helps or go to managed worlds. If that doesn't help can you play someone else in his household and bring him home?
Either way next time try having it at a smaller place and see if it runs better for you.

when a sim wins an award at the award ceremony you have to click on the microphone and pick the 'accept award' option, they'll give a small speech and should then have the award in household inventory

also, you can send sims to attend the ceremony every week, even if they haven't been nominated. sometimes they'll win without a nomination, if they're on the lot

When my sim won an award it wouldn't let me near the microphone, she just kept waving her hands with the routing bubble. Eventually I was able to make the speech....to an empty room lol, but the award was already in my inventory.

Just so you know the meet and greet award goes into your household inventory, not the personal inventory. I never accepted it or anything. It just appears there.. kind of like the date awards.

I wish they wouldn't do that, but thanks for the heads up. They could easily fix this problem if they would only allow our Sims to place things in their own inventory at will. I liked being able to drag things, for instance, into my Sims' inventories in Sims3. Now, I have to purchase the things once they move out. Face/palm.
  • I was having a different issue with Meet and Greets, in that they didn't seem to count as Parties for the Party Animal Aspiration.
I was hoping to knock two birds out with one stone, getting my fame up and getting this aspiration complete, but the game didn't count it as a throwing a party.

I ran into the same issue with Throwing Charity Parties, too.

Though with Meet and Greets, I was also having no success with completing the "Have 3 Sims Dancing at the same time" in that it only ever counted my Sim.

An update on my meet & greet conundrum - after reading a guide on SimsVIP I realised that meet & greets have to be held at an "up & coming" or "hottest spot in town". Once I held my meet & greet at one of those it went off successfully.

That's really good to know, thank you!
  • When I host a meet and greet, I don't get the menu that is supposed to pop up telling me what I need to accomplish to have a successful event. What do I do?

Try a game repair. Exit your game and go into Origin. Right click on the Sims 4 cover and select repair game, Let it do its thing. Once it's done, go into your documents folder and delete the localthumbcache.package and then restart your game. See if that helps.
