Creating a Pet for Pre-Existing Sims

just modify the house like you would any other time from the manage household button then you can add a pet to a family that already exists.

it's probably just me but I really don't like this always being the answer for these kinds of things... to just type in a cheat everytime or get a mod that already has the cheat running.
It simply should be go to the pet store adopt a pre-made pet for such and such money or create a new one for such and such money.
I mean I realize it's not hurting anyone to take those few seconds to do the cheat and all but still think the way I described would work better for pretty much everyone.
just a nitpick anyhow....

Oops I didn't realize that. Thank you for correcting me.
I always did it through the cheat to manage households while in game.
I still would rather have it done through a in game store though to make it feel like your going to an adoption center.

There's the adoption process through the computer/phone, but it's not quite the same as an adoption center indeed.

A small tip : if you aren't satisfied with the selection of dogs/cats available, I've noticed that going back to the neighborhood, editing a household, adding a pet, exiting CAS without saving and going back to the initial household resets the selection for some reason, so you can have new choices without waiting for a full day.

Hi, i need some help. Installed the cats & dogs addon. It says installed - but we dont get the option to create a pet in the “create sim” screen under asminister household.

Does this not work for saves games or already created households ?... or any ideas to why we are not getting the option ?

Has anyone attempted to create-a-pet after taking the entire family into cas.fulleditmode? Yes, it's a cheat, but sometimes even in the pet stores in Sims3, you can't find the type of pet wanted.

Are you talking about My First Pets pack? It's not the same as Cats & Dogs. You get the CAS in the EP, I don't own the MFP pack.

Found out whats wrong. Apparently we bought an expansion pack to the “cats & dogs” expansion pack - and not the actual “cats & dogs” pack ?
