Damp Clothing

It seems that my sims always have the damp clothing moodlet when they get dressed. Is this due to them needing to upgrade their dryer? I have gone in a made four everyday outfits, two workout, two sleep, and two swim, yet they will always switch into the same outfit that makes them sad because it's wet. Is this happening to anyone else?

  • I don't know.... But well it's EA what did you expect for it to work well :/
  • looooooool OMG! No, not really. But I do think I figured it out, I had them dry two loads of laundry that where in the hampers. After that their clothes were fine. I just find that weird.

My sims got this moodlet before since the dryer didn't dry the clothes completely, so there's definitely a chance your clothes won't always be dry less you upgrade your washing machine. That and if you unload the dryer too soon you can also get damp clothing. :#

Might want to listen out for the positive or negative chime of the dryer if they came out ok.
  • There's two different chimes!? That's so cool. So far I've only heard the one, and it keeps fooling me. I pause them game thinking it's one of the toy cell phones in the house going off. :D Thanks for the tip!
  • What's the point of buying a dryer if the clothes are going to be damp? Is there such a thing as a dryer that only partly dries clothes?

I am surprised you can't adopt a dog in TS4 and end up with a dog with no legs - ie basically a large slug on a leash, that you have to drag around - maybe mount onto a skateboard. The point being, if you buy a dog, you expect it to have 4 legs - unless otherwise stated.

In real life sometimes clothes, especially heavier clothes like jeans or towels, don't come out of the dryer fully dry after one cycle so they go back in for another full or half cycle depending on what they are.

ROFL That would be a sight to behold. Now I hope someone makes a pet like that and uploads it. That would be something for a Star Trek themed world!

But to answer your question, sometimes my dryer doesn't dry a heavy load all the way. It may be slightly damp with the jeans either in their pockets or the waist area. So an additional 20 minutes normally does the trick. And sometimes heavy blankets need more time.

when your sim takes the laundry out of the dryer, you should be able to mouseover it to see the state. if it's still listed as damp, toss it back in for another spin

I keep forgetting that you can mouse over the clothing to see their state. Thanks for the reminder! :)

Especially if you haven't cleaned the lint trap.

The dryer in our apartment building is crummy. I always have to put them in for a second cycle to get them dry, I take out the heavier things like jeans and towels cause they take 3 cycles to dry. It's a new one too, not sure if it just doesn't get hot enough or if it's on purpose so we have to pay more to get them dry. The building is over 100 years old, they probably never clean out the exhaust ducts, so that might be an issue too.
