- Agree! More ceiling lights helped - I also clicked on a lamp and picked a brighter color for all. And lastly in game settings is key turn off post effect processing or whatever it's called :)
- One thing I found was that even on Ultra, my game, at least, had lighting set to High, not Very High. Once I changed that, the entire GAME looked better. The inside of the house is now along the lines of TS3, which I thought was dim compared to TS2.
Also, WINDOWS WINDOWS WINDOWS. I have big, huge windows on all my rooms, and the natural lighting is better. Someone said the height of the windows makes a difference, higher the better. And, lastly, fiddle with lighting. Some lights are better than others. - Rawla11 years agoSeasoned AceThose are also very good tips. :)

Sims 2 has better indoor lighting than Sims 3 for sure - alexspoom1311 years agoSeasoned AceI still think the standard lights should be brighter though. Just because they're cheaper it doesn't mean your house should be a dungeon.
- phyllisp16011 years agoSeasoned AceAnother thing that helped me was to click on a light and turn on all the lights in the house, then go to the bedrooms and set auto-lights in there. This was an old trick from TS2. If you have all the lights set on auto-light, they don't come on during the daytime at all and it makes it seem dark (and made TS2 Sims unhappy with environment). It makes a huge difference to have them on in the daytime.

I agree with you on that one. Could/should be brighter starting out.
@MsPhy - Thanks for that tip. - alexspoom1311 years agoSeasoned Ace

Yea, but it is ridiculous that I had to add 14 lights to ONE area to get my screenshots on my thread to look like they do, which is just normal. A, my sims are poor and its annoying and B, it looks ugly as hell when you look at my ceiling....I have a total of 42 lights in my house between all the rooms, I'm sorry, but that is too much and it NEEDS to be fixed....
I'm honestly surprised more people aren't complaining about this. I'm seeing some great houses and screenshots but for me they're slightly ruined by everything looking so dim inside. If this isn't addressed in a patch I seriously think we need a lighting mod asap. - alexspoom1311 years agoSeasoned Ace

I know!! Its really bad. I'm actually going to take a picture of how many lights I had to use, its ridiculous. It was so many that I was getting the "cannot place objects intersecting eachother" all the time because my whole ceiling is covered. Otherwise you can't see. Also 90% of all the windows are tiny. I covered my house in the only floor to ceiling windows in the game and it was STILL dark. I loved the lighting in the Sims 3, it was so beautiful.
The windows don't give as much light as they should either. Someone should take a photo of a real-life room and recreate that room in game with the same amount of lighting to show how much darker it is than it should be. Be sure to make a new thread when you post the photo, I'd be very interested to see it.
