There are many types of careers in TS4 but most require a pc at home or going to library or somewhere to use one.What isn't in game are blue collar jobs and or service jobs for our own Sims.Plumber, Carpenter, builder, Painter (actual paints buildings), Waitress/waiter/hostess, Mechanic, general laborer, Clerk/cashier, Hotel houskeepers or maids, not everyone wants to be a CEO, and or an academic which we don't even have any of those do we? Such as professor or dean or teacher etc. ETA: Babysitter, care giver, nanny (our own Sim), housekeeper (for hire) to individual famlies, stay at home daycare worker, long distance truck driver, delivery Sim, can deliver anything, (has to own vechicle), Uber Driver, Taxi driver. Electrician, Welder, Iron worker, Pavers, Landscapers.Apprentice jobs, interns of those careers, like a helper, manual laborer like someone who installs floors, dry wall, those who actually do the work.Diversity should also include the rest of the world and those backbone jobs that make the world go around.Just asking as I'm sort of tired of social networking careers being the only type of stay at home or work from home and or hands on jobs that are only for the doctor etc. Let's include everyone and the things some people actually enjoy doing and make a pretty good living doing.ETA: Expand jobs to include more physical labor jobs. And I will leave you with this tune: She works hard for the money, so hard for it honey, so you better treat her right.~~~~

As a renovator, I would love to see my job in the game. We have manual labor as a part-time job, but it's a very common full-time job in real life.But I agree, I want less glamorous jobs for my down-to-earth families. It's hard to do that when they can only become famous actresses, become rich at the drop of a hat, or have an immaculate house because this game lacks disheveled furniture.

Service Sims don't even have homes!! If our Sim marries one, that Sim is elevated out of the *need(?)* for such job.Oops! I don't think this is on purpose, but this needs to be fixed. End the Service Class separation!

The more I think about this the more glaring it becomes. Just considering my immediate family, none of their jobs are in the game and they're all quite normal. I'm a trainee teacher, my mother is a barmaid (before which she made shoes), my father has a one man repair business when he's not working as a secretary for his town's football club, my uncle puts bathrooms together, my step sister is a dog groomer... None of that is in the game to any actual extent, and there's so many other things too like you say. There's a lot of trendy stuff but not a lot of realistic or normal stuff.

Plumbers and electricians should have come with City Living. They get rich in cities where getting a good one is like gold dust! Their prices are extortionate sometimes. I live in a city and know this by experience! :/

Agreed. The Sims 4 lacks in career options and I am confused why they haven't patched in a larger variety.

I couldn't agree more! I really want more 'every day' careers, especially for my more handy/practical sim characters. Not all of my sims are meant to be academic types, techie, super rich and/or famous, so it would be nice to have more options for them. I often have to prevent my sims from being promoted in their careers for this reason. I was pleased when part-time jobs were made available for adults, but I would like to see more full-time options and NPC careers available for played sims. One of my sims would be a great repairman, builder or mechanic so I'm really hoping one or ideally all of these careers are added. I'm not particularly fussed about a University EP, but if it came with study from home and practical as well as academic course options then I will be very happy. I would also love to see hotel venues come with hotel assistant and manager career options.

I agree so much! I use several custom careers by @midnitetech I also support her on Patreon because she makes a huge variety of regular jobs. I wanted many of my Sims to have everyday normal jobs. I was happy to see that manual labor is a part-time job now and glad they enabled adults to have part-time jobs. Along with being able to do odd jobs to make ends meet, it has really expanded my gameplay experience. But I honestly want more of these kind of jobs. I hope when University drops we get community college, part-time schedule, and online classes.
