Now, I've only started on the Sims recently, but had always been a fan of the series from afar. Having only watched other people play the previous Sims titles as a child, I only got to play my own Sims game hands-on starting from Sims 4, so I never got to experience what it felt like to play those households and their stories from the previous Sims games.However, that didn't stop me from reading about everything I missed, and boy, did I read! I spent two days nonstop reading about all that I had missed in the previous 3 games in the series, and now going back to Sims 4 and playing, I'm now disappointed that everything I had read is just not the same in Sims 4 as the last 3 titles. Reading about all the stories and connections between the households really clinched my interest into them, and I'd love to play them to truly feel what I've been missing.Why are the Goths like any normal family now? Why can't I experience the same feel in solving the mysteries of Bella's disappearance, when she's right there clear as day with her family? Where are the Altos to combat against the equally greedy but old-money Landgraabs? At least I can play out Don Lothario's storyline a bit, though it's missing a few people, plus Nina and Dina don't interest me in Sims 4. Don't even get me started on Veronaville, Strangetown, and Mrs. Crumplebottom along with lots of other NPCs (and any other households and stories from any of the 3 games that piqued my interest as well)!Sure, I can try to replicate these stories by making my own households or downloading someone else's, but they still won't feel the same in how they were when they were created in their respective games by the devs. For those who have played the previous titles, do you miss the timeline/canon and stories of the previous Sims games that are essentially absent in Sims 4?

Not really, because I still have Sims 2 and 3 both still installed on my computer. It's been a while, but whenever I start to feel nostalgic about a past game, I just start it up. The problem you are feeling with Sims 4 and the connection is because Sims 4 is in an alternative universe than Sims 2 and 3. It has some of the same sims but yet they are different. For example, Bob and Betty Newbie from Sims 2 and 3, their counterparts in Sims 4 is Bob and Eliza Pancakes. Bella was never missing, and the Dina and Nina only have the mother, and she is not even the same mother who was in Sims 2 and 3.I'm not quite sure what made them go this route, but there is for sure one thing that I do love in Sims 4 that was not possible in the previous sims game unless you had used mods to make it possible, and that is the connection between the different towns. In Sims 4 you can easily move your family from one town to another.I do love the open world of Sims 3, where you could go from point A to point B and no loading screen, but that came at a cost, at least for me it did. The open world was extremely hard on my computer. It actually killed my last computer, and nearly killed the one I'm currently on. The thing I really do miss from Sims 3 was the color wheel in CAS, build and buy mode. One thing I don't miss from Sims 3 was all the rabbit holes. If I sent my sim to a restaurant, I was stuck outside while they were doing whatever inside. I know in Sims 4 I have a very difficult time with babies because I fell in love with the Sims 2 and 3 babies. The babies in Sims 4 are very much like the ones in the first sims, where they were tied to their little cribs.

I can say that TS2 will always have a special place for me, as it was the game I started with right after I got married and settled into my first home. I still play it from time to time, and it is the only iteration that I can say I truly love all the premades and their stories.

I don't, I like to go against the stories offered most of the time unless changing something later on. Like I brought in a maid for Mortimer instead of letting one of the gold diggers have him, and Cassandra should be getting ready to marry Don but I moved her on, and Nina is married to him instead and in the military. Brandi is even a selfish single mom and her once criminal son is responsible for the house. Instead of the other way around I have fun twisting up pre-mades I didn't even care about Bella when I first played ts2 because I hated her so much in ts1 I killed her so many times not even sure why.

@RedDestiny92 I did the same thing in TS2. My favorite was involving the Goth family. I went ahead and had Mortimer get married to Dina, and afterward, she showed her true colors towards Alexander. He saw her through her money grabbing selfish way, and he would give her complete.......well let's just say he would give her a hard time. He would even pay with his, I think it was the influence points, or whatever they were called to influence other sims to do the same towards his stepmother. Out of spite, she forced herself to have a baby with Mortimer; because she knew if she didn't Alexander would kick her to the curve after his dad died. At least by having a child, it would ensure her hold on the Goth fortune. But Alexander wasn't having any part of it. Later when he was a teen he befriended a werewolf (the one that looks like a wolf, but with the glowing yellow eyes), and ended up becoming a werewolf himself. After that, Dina was forced to flee, but as a selfish woman that she was, she left her child behind, leaving Alexander to raise his little sister.

I don't pay much attention to them because I'm too caught up in my own households, and they're just background. However I do wish that there was some sort of progression with them, instead of all of them just growing old & dying out. I'd rather see some Landgraab & Goth descendants than the random townies the game keeps generating to keep the NPC population up. On the other hand, that may have been one of the things that contributed to the lag problems that plagued TS3, and unless you used a mod, or read the daily newspaper you couldn't really keep up with it all anyway. So I would take a smooth running game over the lives of sims I don't really care much about anyway.

@LaBlue0314 That is some tale and I love it :smiley: I remember one time I let Mortimer get with Dina, something that I have remembered for years even, he died a few sim seconds after their twins were born but I moved him in with her so she didn't get the fortune she wanted.

Though I've handled my own story progression long enough that I'm good with making my own stories so if it comes I'm fine waiting if it doesn't I won't miss it. Just staying on topic.

I don't have to connect all the series or have it make sense. I do when it suits me. I love the game giving me a backstory to work with though.
I've recreated a whole Sims 1 and 2 save to include as many details as I can from the series I loved .. since I didn't play 3 mostly anything that happened there I've left out .. unless it suited the story for me. Like Bob Newbie in my current Sims 4 save is a bookworm. I learned that Sims 3 did that and it helped round him out in my current game. I happily ignore things that don't suit how I feel about a character though.
They have given us a few stories here in Sims 4... like Johnny Zest's and the Villareal household have some mystery we can work with ourselves. I hope they give us more as time goes on but kind of doubt they will. I wouldn't mind all new stories especially.
I can understand though at some point these stories might not make sense or might even offend some folks (go figure) since they've gone in different directions with different iterations and some just won't make sense to timeline them together at this point.

I miss it a lot. One of my favorite memories of The Sims 2 was picking apart the memories and family trees of all of the different sims in the world to figure out the stories past what the game already told. The Pleasant family was the one I remember most.
