- I have a custom built high-end PC built for handling the Sims and other AAA games and The Sims 3 literally makes my graphics card whistle with strain (which no other game does). The Sims 4 is comparatively a breeze!
- ldm27 years agoSeasoned AceIt does for me & I have a cheap old ASUS desktop (5 years old & cost around 600 USD), which I'd specifically bought because I was sick of trying to play Sims 3 on a laptop. It played much better on this, but still lagged & crashed from time to time. Sims 4 is even better, graphics aren't as pretty as some of the other PCs out there, but it runs much more smoothly.
- claramj7 years agoNew VeteranYes!! I have a, well lets say NOT a gaming laptop, and it runs pretty well on it, much much better than the Sims 3 did on a desktop I originally had it on, which I built for into a gaming computer to play it! I now have the Sims 3 and Sims 2 both on the laptop with Sims 4, because my desktop went out on me, and I haven't gotten a new one yet, working on saving up for a gaming desktop myself!
I currently can't play The Sims 3 and I don't even know why, it just want gets as far as choosing the world/game you want to play, then crashes, even though I have been playing it off and on for the last few months!
Anyway, I have all of The Sims 4 stuff, including the new EP as of today, Get Famous, and so far its still working the same as before!
So yes it works a lot better then Sims 3 does, whether using a laptop or a desktop! Good luck with getting a new PC! - BerryCharm7 years agoRising Traveler

I have played both on several laptops (nowhere near gaming laptop specs) and both games have run very well with no lag or problems. I had the entire Sims 3 collection on one (when I had a laptop with a disk drive). I am going to eventually re-purchase my missing Sims 3 packs via Origin (except Katy Perry's Sweet Treat pack which is no longer available) and see how well they run on this laptop which was a last minute purchase back in September after my Dell laptop's battery died.
You can get sweet treats from amazon, I just ordered mine last week.
I can get a digital copy from Amazon? I don't have a disk drive anymore for a CD.
You can download it through origin, I dont have a CD slot either, I put the code in origin and it let me download that way.
Digital downloads are not available on Amazon anymore. I just looked.
Get the CD version and inside is a code you put in origin without touching CD and it downloads.
Also FYI to everyone else of course sims 3 isnt going to run as smoothly as sims 4 , sims 3 is an old game and sims 4 is more modern this is a very unfair comparison. Im kind of tired of these two games always being compared to each other. - simkitten877 years agoNew Aceon my old pc the sims 4 ran better then 3 but i could still run them both ok. but with the new computer both games run pretty good. but i also tried it on another pc that didnt have the best graphics card and the sims 3 ran. it lagged and the graphics were not the best but the sims 4 was super laggy. so i think it depends on the computer. because one pc ran the sims 4 better and one ran the sims 3 better.
- It depends on your specs, really. I'd say The Sims 4 is easier to run and it's also a lot more optimized compared to The Sims 3, personally I would go for The Sims 4 just for that alone. Sims 3 has always had its issues with lag, no matter how high-end the PC is. I would definitely suggest getting a (custom) PC over a laptop, so you can replace and upgrade parts as you go which will save you a lot of money in the long run. If you are unsure about custom building your own PC, visit a PC-service or maybe ask a friend to help you out to find better deals.
I have never had any issues or lag in The Sims 4 so I will leave my specs below (I use it for many AAA games):
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i7-3770 @ 3.40GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080
16GB RAM "BerryCharming;c-16834641" wrote:

By that logic Sims 2 would run worse than Sims 3 but it runs fine. Sims 3 was a laggy mess by any standard, Sims 4 running better has nothing to do with it being newer. The demands of a newer game will usually put more pressure on a computer - the fact that Sims 4 runs better than Sims 3 on machines that are specced to be able to run both IS an important comparison.- BerryCharm7 years agoRising Traveler

Actually I know allot of people who cant run sims 2 so you cant say that sims 2 runs fine because for allot of people they cant get it to run at all. - Idk why but Sims 3 with all expansions and cc works better than sims 4 with all expansions so far and no cc for me
- This features found only in sims 3 can lag
Open World (I don't want it, main cause of lag)
Create a Style(ONE OF MY FAVORITE i hope in sims 4 but without lag)
More Lots(I want too also)
