Game development cost and content?

IIRC, TS3 stuff packs were 20$. TS4 game packs have the same price tag and yet we get loads of stuff, new worlds and new gameplay (something that TS3 stuff packs didn’t include). Therefore, if they are able to pull that off, I don’t know what’s the deal with TS4 EPs and their lack of content in comparison to previous iterations?

I'm not willing to offer EA more money when that's probably not the issue. The Sims 4 has been incredibly profitable so far and paying more for an EP, GP, or SP is unlikely to mean that they'll reinvest that money in the game - we can't bribe them to include more content. If the price increases, we'll probably just be paying more for the same product. There's no guarantee that they'll even reinvest in the Sims and not another game.

The packs are not worth what EA initially charges anyway, it's more of an early access price, because of the constant sales. The Eco pack is already on sale.

The cost of living has gone up since then and will continue to rise therefore the price of games, etc will rise accordingly.

The cost for game development have increased. If we would assume that the cost is the reason why the packs are lacking in content, then I would probably pay a bit more. I don't think that's the only reason though, I think game development for the sims4 have been troubling since the start and also that EA are not willing to invest more money in developing it despite The Sims 4 earning them so much money. The game reached a total net revenue of $1.59 billion in January.

If they would have invested those money in Maxis then we would not have so many bugs and other problems with the game now and packs would not be lacking in content.

If I am paying more, then I am also expecting more, so if EA are gonna charge more for their packs, then I would expect EA to invest more in the sims, hire more people, less outsourcing, get rid of bugs quicker and make good packs with lots of content.

Heck I don't know. Maybe someone on here who really understands coding and how it works in the gaming industry can explain it.

ETA I also think the BG was around 70 bucks when it first came out. At least that's what I recalled paying.

The recent Eco Lifestyle "expansion pack" isn't even worth the $40 they're asking for... and you're asking if I'd be willing to pay MORE!? LMAO! That's just laughable, honestly. To be fair, Eco Lifestyle is a game pack labeled as an "expansion pack", but that doesn't change the point (it actually makes it even worse). It's still not worth the $40... so why would I ever consider paying MORE for a pack when I won't even pay the price they're asking for now? lol That wouldn't make any sense.

Also, Sims 2 expansion packs had MORE content and features than Sims 4 expansion packs do... and yet, they were only $30, while Sims 4's are $40... so your logic doesn't really make sense.

Sims 3 packs being so highly priced were justifiable due to the fact that the game had open world and create a style... plus, quite a lot of their content involved rabbit hole buildings and stuff like that. Also, certain content and features were just things that happened to come in a pack... for example, Ambitions just happened to come with laundry, despite the overall pack being a completely different theme. Meanwhile, in Sims 4, we paid $10 literally for an entire stuff pack revolving just around laundry... :| The same goes for murphy beds... in Sims 2 and 3, they just happened to come in Apartment Life and University Life, respectively... meanwhile, in Sims 4, we got a 'My First Murphy Bed' stuff pack for $10... lol Again, it's laughable and embarrassing.

The only reason Sims 4 has all these packs costing so much is because EA has become extremely greedy overtime... it has nothing to do with the game development being "more costly" or whatever else people wanna come up with to defend their greediness.

Yeah, but Sims 4 also charges us $10 for a murphy bed, while Sims 3 literally just included them in University Life... lol Just like how Sims 3: Ambitions had laundry as content that just happened to be included in the overall pack, while Sims 4 has an entire $10 stuff pack just revolving around laundry... lol

Unfortunately, The Sims fan base has gotten to the point where they'll literally pay for anything... I mean, don't forget people still bought 'My First Pet' (DLC for DLC) and paid $10 for a Murphy bed... lol

I've said it many times before... EA could release a "Sims 4: Garbage Stuff Pack" and players would be overly excited about it and buy it on day one... it's sad and disturbing...

I’ve always wanted bigger expansions annually, and I’d pay more for them.
