Geek-Festival in a thunderstorm

Sorry, but this made me laugh! I'm imagining the event coordinators for San Myshuno scrambling around trying to figure out why no one bothered to check the weather before setting up.

I know that this is in actuality, very frustrating. However, I kind of love it? Before the weather was always perfect you could do anything anytime anywhere. Now, there are real consequences. I might want to take my sim to the festival, but the weather is bad so I'll have to wait for the next one. It just adds a layer of realism and an added challenge, for me.

It's odd--I remembered scrambling about to fix my TS3 houses after its version of Seasons came out (I had soooo many outside dining areas where my sims insisted on dining even though everything was blanketed in snow), and was consequently very slow to adopt outside dining in TS4. Like everyone else, I was expecting a TS4 version of Seasons to come along.

So....the developers didn't anticipate this when they made City Living and put GeekCon out in the open air? The ones my spouse went to in RL were all inside....!

Reckon they ran into some limitation & took a shortcut solution...but now they need to find a better one! ;)

I love the real life consequences that Seasons has naturally added to the game. It adds a new layer of gameplay and breaks the modicum of daily living.

This happened to me. My sims went to the geek festival and the rain broke the computers lol so my sims that were on a date just Wooho’d in the space ship and telescope the entire time.

I think it adds a nice touch of realism. I am really loving things not always going to plan now.

My Sims couple also did so ... once (although they were not on a date, but just took regularly part in the festival -> their participation in Hackathon or gaming challenge was required to make the event a success).

Unfortunately, my second Sim not only seems to have a fear of Thunderstorms (she always gets tense when they happen, even at home), but also her umbrella broke in the weather and she became soaked to the bones due to the heavy rain ,,, so she decidedly was not in the mood for another round of rocket Woohoo :smiley:
Therefore I decided to let them return home early

A part of me agrees. After all in real life there often are festivals that get canceled or cut short due to the weather.
Another part of me thinks that preparing for not so good weather would be a realistic expectation for organizers of a festival that takes place in fall

I'd make my sim try to fix all of those computers while it rained and then laugh when they... I mean... :coughs:

I would never endanger my sim's life, so I would naturally take them back to the safety of their home lot where they would just have to suffer the disappointment of missing out on Geek Con due to the unpredictability of natural weather changes.

It must be fixed or it's worthless to go to any festival with electronics.
