Forum Discussion
- I’m on mobile so it it’s shows me the number of views of a thread and the comments. When a thread has about 10-15 comments but 1k+-11k+ views it’s almost sure it’s been necroed, so I try to avoid commenting. When on pc version, I have to check to make sure it’s not a necropost.
- I was just thinking how funny it will be 3 years from now when some newbie comes along and comments on this post.
- Yeah.. sometimes I just search on Google, a post comes up and maybe is old... Lately I pay more attention to the date.
- tcikesNew SpectatorI don't think so, but it's funny cause I'm known to reply to other people's necroposts in threads where I've already replied to long ago (but forgot about it).
- PhantasmKissNew SpectatorWhen I was new, I wanted to respond to all the things, so I went through multiple pages of threads before someone said something about necroposting. That was when I realized I'd jumped into a thread that had been dead for years. Whoops.
I was really glad to read the official rules recently. Apparently what I did wasn't against the rules, just maybe annoying. I really was trying to be part of things. - DeKaythePUNKRising Vanguard

No but I am guilty of replying to threads that have been necroed by other members without realizing they're old threads.
Same, which is why I'm counting as a rare occasion. My definition of necroposting is also adding onto the first necroposting without realizing it. XD - simsimsereRising ScoutOnly after someone else posted I believe. A couple of times I have posted even when I've noticed it's an old thread because the person before me (usually new member) has asked a question.
- I think "necroposting" as a concept is stupid: obviously, if someone wants to talk about something, then by definition it's still relevant.

I generally agree. It makes more sense to me to necropost, than to start a new post with the same topic. Necroposting is less forum clutter. But, every forum I've been part of has this rule. I think, because they want to ensure conversations are current and relevant. And rather than decide whether an old post is still relevant, they just look at the dates. Less work. That’s funny because I feel the opposite way. Super old, long threads feel cluttery to me because you have to wade through all the old posts, many of which were probably written by people who aren’t even on the forum anymore, whereas with new threads, you can see what’s current, get to everything faster, and interact. ??
