How do I replace randomized townies with ones that I create?

Recently I made a new save file that I play RELIGIOUSLY, but one thing bothers me and thats the hideous randomized townies. Their clothing is terrible, especially the hot and cold weather outfits, and I just want to know how I can finally get rid of them. They look like they got dressed in the dark. Is there a way I can get rid of them forever? And how do I replace them with my own so that I can actually see my own walking around/ working. Thanks!

  • @WUBBAWUBBADUBDUB77 Hahaha... I've had the same issue with the terrible townie outfits. I hurts my eyes. I had a retail store and finally hovered over the townies (same ones come in all of the time when you own/run a store), got the townie names for the eyesore offenders, and hunted them down in the unplayed households in the game and gave them a makeover. ;)

As far as eliminating townies, All you need to do is look for them in the game-save's households. Most likely they're in your 'Manage Households' unplayed households ('Other Households'/'Not in World') vs. played households ('My Households'). I've given these sims makeovers, and occasionally re-aspirationed them if they work in my store or restaurant. ( You cannot change the traits without a cheat or a few other more invasive methods.) I've also been known to delete some with the 'evil' or childhater trait for specific situations, and those who frequent my store or restaurant with the 'klepto' trait. I had one guy that stole a painting off the wall (while I watched - not sure what else) and wouldn't leave the restaurant and would not listen to being asked to leave. I had to have 2-3 different sims fight him, and he still didn't leave. My solution? I hovered over him, got his name, hunted him down in the game's unplayed households, and deleted him. Problem solved.

You should probably take the time to make some 'replacement' sim households - probably 100 or so, if you're deleting all of the pre-made ones. Or you can just create a new one for each you delete.

    Hope this helps! Have fun!
  • Sometimes the best solution isn't to eliminate them but to edit them into your own townies. You can edit townie households through Manage Households > Not in World
  • I edit my townies all the time, (outfits, name, traits), I also use the occasional saved or gallery household as townies.

How I add households as townies:
Click on an empty lot and select the option in the lower right to add or create a household
Now add your sims in CAS, save the household
Click on the empty lot you used for the household and evict them
    Mark the household as unplayed

I keep the Pebble Burrow lot empty in all my games so always use it, you can use a lot with a house on it if you don't have any empty ones, the computer is just faster with no build on it, is all.
  • I've tried that, but the game keeps making more and more of these ugly things. So now I just delete them every day.

The MC Command mod helps, you can curtail townie creation, certain events venues will still generate NPC's but not many
  • I can't remember the name but I found a mod to dramatically cut townie spawning. I still had loads in my game, many of them renamed and with at least one altered outfit, but since then I have had only one or two new people generated during a session. Over time the number will drop due to aging anyway.
  • Wow, thank you guys so much! I guess im fine with editing the hideous townies since I spend a lot of time in CAS anyway ?

    Alright thanks!

This is what I do. Rather than spending a lot of time in CAS creating my own "townies" before I play, I simply edit the ones I come across in-game.
  • @catitude5 @sunblond @WUBBAWUBBADUBDUB77 Would the game stop creating new townies if you filled the played and unplayed households to the capacity/max limit that matches your setting in each game in "Game Options" >"Gameplay" >"Max Sim Count"? If you did that I think you would have to do this for each game and this would be time consuming. You would also have to make sure you moved any of the 'other households' into 'my households' by playing any you don't want to lose. (Just have them move into an empty lot then evict them. This should move them into your 'My Households', I think.) Otherwise, since you will have the game filled to the sim capacity you have set, I assume that whenever you create another sim, have a baby, make a pet, etc., the game would automatically delete a random sim from the 'Other Households' to make room for the new sim. (Or you could control this yourself by increasing the max number or delete a sim of your choice before adding another one. Perhaps you all could confirm if this is the way this works or not?
