- Repairing the game may help. To do that, right click on the sims 4 picture in Origin and click repair.
Also, try resetting your sims 4 folder and see if that helps. To do that, move your sims 4 folder to the desktop. Then start the game, and a new sims 4 folder will be generated. Exit the game. Then add back the "options.ini" file and the "saves" , "screenshots" "tray" "custom music " and "mods" folders to the new sims 4 folder, replacing the new generated file/ folders with the old file/folders. Ok. I will try this after I send my other character to his detective job to see if the build is enabled there.- MDianaSims11 years agoSeasoned Ace

I've never had to enter an enable build code for the science lab, I believe it is fully editable at all times, unlike the police station and hospital
that's what I was thinking also, but when I go to the gym the build mode button is enabled.
And it should be, build mode is freely accessible for all community lots except the police station and the hospital and hidden lots like Sylvan Glade and the Forgotten Grotto. I'm not sure about shops, either owned by a different household or not, since I've only visited them with the Sims that actually owned a particular shop.
If everything works correctly, you'll only need the freebuildmode cheat for the police station, hospital, hidden lots (maybe shops). It turns off once you go through a loading screen. "MDianaSanders;13721298" wrote:

Also Granite Falls should have build mode disabled."MDianaSanders;13721298" wrote:

The problem is that you can't enter any live mode in any community or the career venues?"rosemow;13721312" wrote:

@MDianaSanders answered my problems. But thank you very much @rosemow- I was thinking that you meant that you couldn't enter live mode on any of the community lots or the career venues. That is why I said about repairing the game and resetting the sims folder. I am sorry! I am glad that it has worked out now. :)

You don't have to be sorry, I didn't know how to explain it. But I didn't know about the resetting the folder so thank you for that information :)- MDianaSims11 years agoSeasoned AceWell, I did a little test for the shops, you can't edit them through live mode unless you own them. The freebuild cheat also doesn't work, but it doesn't have to, since you can edit the lots by loading them from the neighbourhood screen.
Basically you only need the freebuild cheat for lots you can't access via the neighbourhood - that is the career venues and the hidden lots. The only exception is the science lab, which has a freely available build mode because it allows you to move around inventions (without having to drag them from one end of the lot to another) and once you have the raygun, you'll be asked to transform items, so you can easily buy more once you run out of a particular item.
