- I tend to play at least one negative trait per sim but 'Jealousy' is just plain annoying. Even a long room can make the sim anxious. It's like severe mental illness.
I don't want perfect sims like you see on YouTube LP's, all cc'd up to look like barbie dolls with mansions etc. I want a challenge. I want the sims to have obstacles. That's life. But a trait that is constantly annoying is a bit much. - @ejoslin - That would be perfect.
The whole jealous trait is useless and annoying. - Yes, I agree as well, @ejoslin. The jealous trait is pretty much a 90% tense buff. The other day my jealous Sim slapped her husband for no reason that I could see. They were by themselves in the kitchen and the other members of the household were occupied in different rooms, and had been for a few minutes at least. Maybe it was from the Mischief interactions, but that is usually laughed off, or has a slight effect on the Friendship bar. This caused a hit to the Romance bar.
No one IRL is tense that much without having a mental health issue. Is that how they intended it? I ended up doing the same thing as a previous poster, and giving her the Carefree reward so she could get promoted. Her days off were on opposite days from her husband, and she was even more tense because of that. (Come to think of it, it was after I gave her the reward, that she slapped him.) I like all the suggestions that have been made to make it more fun to play. - @ejoslin Yes! I agree with all of that. I think that would solve a lot of problems. I just can't get over the fact that they get tense when their partner is in the same room with them just cleaning or doing dishes, I totally get it's supposed to be a negative trait and everything else that happens with the jealousy trait; like when they're at work or when they're out with a friend or something the partner is going to get jealous. I really like that phone idea though to be able to call and check up on.
@Ayumap I can see where you're coming from yeah. It's good overall just that it bugs me when they're in the same room he gets tense but yeah I love the slider idea, that'd be really cool.
@Jimboola11 Yes! I totally agree. I always try to have at least one negative trait or even two sometimes with my sims. I thought the jealousy one would be a neat one to try out but it just doesn't feel like natural jealousy.
@"Livin in Sim" Yeah! For sure. It's difficult to manage this buff.. I have no where near enough points to get the Carefree yet though.. - I like the jealous trait as is because it's very negative. I feel like we need negative traits like this in the sims 4 because having a happy sim is too easy.
However ejoslin's ideas of including the other mate are great and should be implemented. - ck21310 years agoLegendI don't even think of it as a Jealous trait.
It's more like an Obsessed trait. Jealousy is just the tip of the iceberg. - @"Ponder the Sim" I agree. I think we need more negative traits. That's not what I was trying to say; I was saying that it's almost overly negative. It's literally insane to be tense when you're partner is 5 feet away washing dishes or cooking, when there's a clear line of sight to them. It makes no sense and doesn't fit that trait well at all. But everything ELSE that happens with that trait I totally agree with.
@CK213 I can see that. It'd be neat if the jealousy trait turned into an obsessed trait over time. - When your sim gets a jealousy debuff when their partner is 10 feet away in eye-sight what does the debuff say? What is the reason they give?
- The text is the same.
- Honestly, this is my major problem with the Sims 4 in a nutshell. I want more depth. I want these traits to actually influence more than just emotions -- I want the interactions to have reaching consequences. I want those toxic relationships with realistic actions and reactions. I love negative traits, and in previous games, they actually did have meanings.
Ah well, I'm hoping as they add more traits, they'll add more depth to them. That would probably be enough to make me start enjoying the game more.
