- Brd709Seasoned VeteranMost of my builds in my save are real life houses with the actual floor plans if they're around online from old listings. Unless anyone reports it on the gallery, you should be ok.
- Thanks. Appreciate the input.
- Of course it's okay. I personally enjoy building historical houses. If you use floorplans be prepared to adjust them as needed, a lot of them have useless closets which you won't need unless you want a master bedroom with a walk in wardrobe. I found if you follow plans exactly the house ends up looking too big so try to scale it down by about a quarter or even a third until it looks right. Use furniture as place markers as you build so you can work out sizes.
- Yes!! And check out hiphiprenee on YT!!! Her whole thing is combining true crime docs and speedbuilds of the buildings the crime took place in. Very well done and a respectful manner too!
- I think James Turner (Australian who was one of the featured builders in Snowy Escapes) based his most recent mansion build on a real structure.
Looking at architecture plans and real estate listings is a great way to get inspiration!
With all the press pictures of that Mar-a-Lago place over in America, I'm surprised I haven't seen something similar to that in the gallery. I haven't looked too hard though. I think the curved centre section looks beyond the Sims 4 build tech at the moment...
Here's a link to James Turner's build video (it's two parts, this links to part one) :
https://youtube.com/watch?v=N0oExNfWJss - GalacticGalSeasoned AceI began building by using RL houses I lived in. Now that we have platforms, I may try the floorplan that two of my friends growing up shared. To explain, they lived in tract housing across the street from each other's tracts. They were obviously an extension of each other, as the floorplans were the same. Odd that the similarities weren't strictly in the floorplans choses by each household.
I see no problem at all. Build away! - Thanks for the input. Much appreciated all!
- mightyspritesimsRising HotshotI'm sure there's nothing wrong with it. It's not a copyright violation or anything like that.
I personally still feel a little squeamish about posting some things, like if I used a Zillow listing as the reference and I know that's basically going to be someone's private residence. In those cases I use it as a building exercise but I don't post that exact build anywhere. Maybe another build in similar style or using a technique I learned though. - MaggieMae7276Seasoned NoviceI have built many real life homes including the Amityville house. I love building real life homes and the challenge of trying to make the house I am building as close to the real as possible. I started with building homes I lived in but now I enjoy building real life abandoned and haunted houses. It is so much fun!
- i don't see issue
although unless house is like famous one (like from movies or whatever) i probably would not disclose what house it is from where
like say i made my neighbors house in the game i wouldn't name it their address or anything
